We got to re-do our fitness tests to see if we had improved, and the results are now;

1 minute press up- 33

Back dynamometer- 100

Mini death circuit

What the mini death circuit consisted of...

It worked on Strenght/ endurance

Tarnya Brightman's insight:

We did a warm up- which consisted of a pulse raiser (walking) then we mobalised (high knees, heel flicks and stuff with our arms)

Bicep hammer curl- 7 sets 10 reps with 3kg,

Dumbbell shoulder press- 7 sets 10 reps with 3kg,

Dumbbell sqaut- 7 sets 10 reps with 3kg

Dumbbell Lat raise- 7 sets 10 reps with 3kg

Dumbbell deadlift- 7 sets 10 reps with 3kg

Press ups- 7 sets 10 reps with 3kg

Sit ups  7 sets 10 reps with 3kg

After each time of doing the circuit once we had a 45 second rest then we continued to do the next circuit and so on. 

After this we did a tem finisher which was;

Wall sqaut sit, 10 steps with 10kg log.

What I thought of it;-

It was good, I enjoyed doing it after a while it got tiring which we knew was meant to happen, I didn't really feel anything after the circuits however today I am aching a bit. If I was to do it again I would increase the intensity to have more of an affect, more quickly.

Goals

my goals..

My short term goals are to start running again. I would like to do this because i've always been into athletics and I enjoy it. I will start running again soon- in the next coiple of months...

I also want to do this because it will help me progress in running, and it will keep me fit and help me become healthier.

 

My long term goals are to run at a higher level, I want to do this so again I will go further in running and I think it would be interesting to see how far I can go in my sport.

I completed my training session, It was quite easy, so I was happy with the session. In the future weeks when i'm doing the session I will use heavier weights and reduce the rest period to make it harder.

Hi, I'm Tarnya, I'm 16 years old, I live in basingstoke:)

The sport I do is running/ athletics. The distance I run is the 100/200m. I haven't ran in a while but I'm going to start again soon to see how far I could get in sports. I enjoy running because it's quick, simple and keeps me focused aswell as it keeping me fit and healthy.

Barriers...

The barriers that have affected my training sessions

Some of the barries would be my confidence, being ill, social reasons, and just not being in the mood to do any exercise.

 

Confidence has affected my sessions because I've never had much confidence therefore if I am given the option to do sport theres a chance that I wouldnt do it because if I feel that i'm not doing it well enough I will just stop and try avoid doing it in the future, I could overcome this by trying to build up my confidence, or just trying new things and not care what people think of you doing the exercises.

 

Being ill has affected it because it meant that I couldn't do the session even if I wanted to do it because it could of been dangerous and because I didn't feel as strong as I normally am. I can overcome this by not being ill therefore I would be able to exercise and improve on it.

 

Social reasons has affected it because the only other girl in the class wasn't in therefore in a way it felt awkward for me to do it, so I wouldn't try my hardest and wouldn't perform to my full potential. I could overcome this by not really caring and just think of as, it would be helping me if I did it, therefore it would motivate me more.

 

Not being in the mood to do a few of the sessions has affected it because if you aren't in the mood to do it. the majority of the time you won't do it just because you don't feel like you can be bothered or ju8st being tired. There is also the fact that I had gone to the gym most days therefore I felt tired. I could overcome this by not weorking as hard when I go to the gym and then when I do my sessions I wouldhave more energy to be able to do the sessions properly.

We got to talk with Matt and this could of been about anything that we wanted to know...

Tarnya Brightman's insight:

On friday we got a chance to speak to Matt, it could of been about anything that we wanted to know, so we just asked him questions.

We asked things such as, how can we improve our fitness, and how can we give up addictive foods... You can do this by doing the cavemen diet- this is when you just eat fruit, meat and nuts, when you do this the cravings for the junk food will go...We also asked about extreme diets and what they do and the effects of them, there are bad effects such as when you eat again you will put on more weight, or if you carry on not eating then theres only a certain amount you can lose before your body stops losing weight.

We also spoke about body building, There is an open body building competition which is when you are open and willing to talk about the drugs that they are on. Also another thing is that the judges go on what they like, it could be anything from being toned and tanned.

I found this session helpful because it helped me learn about it and helped me learn about different things that I could try.

When we did the deck of cards it felt benifital to me, however it made me feel extremely tired when I was doing it, this is because i'm not use to doing it. When we was doing it, each card was an activity to do and whatever number was on the card that is how many times we had to do it, we would do 5 cards, and then have a minute rest then keep doing it like that. The activities that are included are;

-Lunges- the card number on each leg

-Sit ups

-Push ups

-Squats..

Warm up-

5 minutes on the treadmil and then dynamic stretching

Main session-

3 sets of 6 reps 35kg leg curls

3 sets of 6 reps 10kg chess press using the the aerobic ball

3 sets of 6 reps 35kg leg extension

3 sets of 6 reps 10kg shoulder press using the aerobic ball

45 seconds rest between each set completed

Cool down-

5 minutes on the treadmil and then static stretches.
