So am trying to figure out why teaching critical thinking is so hard and this book suggests that even in the USA, students lack critical thinking, complex reasoning, and writing skills.

Wow. This report definitely worth a read. it says that "Many African graduates currently lack information literacy, critical thinking and independent learning capabilities. The students were often described as passive"
