Loved this video! It is so simple but easy to apply and change the way of dealing with people.

The point I was making in class that "we pay to get entertained and we get paid to entertain". He basically goes through this aspect in here by does not use the word "entertainment" as such.

The example that he uses is: a waiter giving mint when giving the bill to the customer and how that act increases waiter's tips. Very simple but very powerful! There are also other examples in the video.

10 Big Concerns About Tablets In The Classroom

10 Big Concerns About Tablets In The Classroom | Developing as a teacher and manager | Scoop.it

As we look into integrating tablets in the classroom, it’s becoming increasingly clear that buying tablets for the purpose of enhancing learning is very different to buying tablets for recreational purposes such as browsing Facebook and entertainment sites, or even for more serious pursuits such as business or work. Parents and teachers need to consider a myriad of issues specific to young people.

Dimitris Primalis's comment, August 1, 2013 7:10 AM
Very good points ! Once parents are shown what the tablet can or can't do, they become supporters. We have had no major accidents with tablets so far with 4 graders. (9-10 year old pupils).
Patti McCall's curator insight, August 1, 2013 8:52 AM

Still, I wonder how distracting these can be.  I have had students say they prefer print because they can study and read without the temptation to jump on Facebook.

What do you feel are the key digital literacy skills that 21st century learners need?

What do you feel are the key digital literacy skills that 21st century learners need? | Developing as a teacher and manager | Scoop.it

Digital literacy has become one of the major issues facing educators in this early part of the 21st century. The need to develop students and teachers digital literacies has become increasingly accepted as fact and yet most teachers' and students' understanding of what exactly constitutes a digital literacy still seems to remain quite vague. Even more vague seems to be teachers' understanding of how precisely we go about developing those literacies.

IRREGULAR VERBS LIST -ranked by their use frequency | ESL Lounge

Monica MIRZA's curator insight, February 26, 8:56 AM

Updated on 26 Feb., 2014

- - - - - - - - - - -

I've just thought of asking every student to reorder the verbs in this chart (one page only -otherwise they might get lost), according to what they think is their own personal frequency of use. Then, they should create a sentence for the 5 most/least used ones : first they'd choose a topic, so that they might relate the 10 sentences with each other to create a (very) short story. Hmm... hope I'm being plain enough. Shall possibly refine the exercise instructions later on.

I specially liked the words:

“No technology has an impact on learning in its own right; rather, its impact depends on how it is used… The question that should be asked is not ‘Can iPads support learning?’ but rather ‘How can iPads be used to support collaborative learning, or exploratory learning’, or whatever…”
