Dave Hunter and Chuck 'the Freak' Urquhart have been named WRIF-FM's new morning show after months of speculation. The show, made popular on Canadian airways via Windsor's 89X (CIMX-FM) with Lisa Way, will run 6 a.m.

I'm still in shock; not only that Drew and Mike were canceled, but that they're being replaced by Dave and Chuck the Freak. There's absolutely nothing original about this show. In fact, they are a ripped off version of Drew and Mike
- "It's two completely different shows," Hunter said of Dave and Chuck "the Freak" and the "Drew and Mike" show. "We involve our listeners on our show."
I don't understand the need to try to involve more listeners in a radio show. That's the easy button for lazy and inferior show hosts.
Anyone can announce some dumb topic and say 'Hey random idiot on the street! Call in and tell us your dumb story that no one cares about, but fills the time so that we don't have to do much work."
A few years ago, the all-sports station in town went this route. No planned topics and 100% listener driven shows. This was a station that already had knowledgeable, prepared and entertaining hosts for their shows. But the higher-ups at the station wanted to ride the next big trend.
The on-air quality went down... immediately. I finally realized how many morons were out there with a radio, a cell phone, and nothing to do. The hosts also seemed to be irritated by the new format.
I’m not saying that you don’t need callers. You do. But to let the callers run the show and dictate the format is more likely to make me switch the channel than stick around and listen all day.
