Ninester, a Mean, Customized Ducati Fighter | autoevolution

Ninester, a Mean, Customized Ducati Fighter | autoevolution | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
Here's one nice piece of news to the fans of customized fighters. Welcome the Ninester, stripped-down 2001 Ducati Monster, with aggressive and at the same time, flowing looks.

One of the nicest things about this Ducati is the fact the bike looks very clean and this adds major on the cool factor scale. The wiring has been cleverly and skillfully hidden under the wide Ducati 999 fuel tank, so there are no loose wires and cables.

Ducati 900GTS Cafe Racer | Return of the Cafe Racers

Ducati 900GTS Cafe Racer | Return of the Cafe Racers | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
How do you make a classic Ducati look any better than it already does? Convert it into a functional and highly desirable Cafe Racer.

What could possibly be better than owning a brand new Ducati? How about owning a classic one; or better still a custom '78 900GTS Cafe Racer like this beauty owned by Nick Huber. Nick purchased the bike 5 years ago with only 13,000kms on the clock, it was to be his daily rider so when it came time to add some custom touches, function would have to come before form...but you'd never know by looking at it

WideOpenMoto: NCR / Poggipolini Group : Part1

WideOpenMoto: NCR / Poggipolini Group : Part1 | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

They say the Ducati Desmosedici RR is a MotoGP bike for the street. That's pretty intense.
So when the NCR M16 first appeared, I admit that I thought the Desmosedici-engined special, a bike lighter and more powerful than Stoner's actual MotoGP-championship-winning Ducati, was a little bit over the top.
Who except maybe Buzz Aldrin could harness that kind of power-to-weight ratio?

However, I was lucky enough to be shown around the Poggipolini factory and NCR workshop by Michele Poggipolini, NCR's CEO, and I've since changed my mind. The M16 isn't an over-the-top extravagance, it's really a very logical culmination of the skills and passions of two companies who've joined forces to build the fastest, lightest, most performance-focused Ducati's on the planet. So making Ducati's most powerful machine better isn't really over the top, it's just what NCR does!

In the words of Michele Poggipolini, NCR is a way of showcasing what we can do; our technology and capabilities. Considering Poggipolini's bread-and-butter is designing, developing and producing parts for Formula-1, aerospace, and the elite supercars (Bugatti Veyron included!), that makes the bikes that thunder out of the Bolognese factory very special indeed.

Here's the story:...http://wideopenmoto.blogspot.fr/2012/06/ncr-poggipolini-group-part1.html#.T8mAGtVSQ8w

Ducati Road 350 Custom | BikeEXIF.com

Ducati Road 350 Custom | BikeEXIF.com | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Building motorcycles is an art as well as a science. While some builders take it very seriously, others have a sense of irreverence. The lighter touch often seems to come from mainland Europe; the French outfit Blitz springs to mind, and another is Spain’s El Solitario, run by David Borras.
‘Chupito’ is the latest from El Solitario, and is based on a 1977 Ducati Road 350. These nimble singles were marketed under the Ducati name, but were actually built by the short-lived Spanish company MotoTrans, which was taken over by Yamaha in the 80s.

Ducati Monster 1100R by Arrick Maurice | motorivista.com | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
What would be the most desirable iconic naked sportbike ? Answer to that would be the Ducati Monster, the aesthetic appeal and structural efficiency is what made this bike iconic.

While most drawn to the Ducati Monster for its raw beauty and performance, many consider it a blank canvas, perfect for customization and personalization.
The feature of the day a Ducati Monster 1100R belongs to Arrick Maurice brand manager of Ducati’s North American market. Arrick’s custom Ducati Monster 1100R was a non-eligible entry for the 2011 Monster Challenge.

Return of the Cafe Racers: Ducati Super Sport 900 The Operator by Icon

Return of the Cafe Racers: Ducati Super Sport 900 The Operator by Icon | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Some time in the foreseeable future the advent of an apocalypse due to a zombie outbreak, nuclear war or perhaps even global warming, will cause the total breakdown of society as we know it. When this disaster happens the majority of the survivors will more than likely become desert roaming vigilantes fighting to the death for the next tank of fuel or can of dog food. Never fear though, not everyone will be out to dismember you or throw you in a cage with a giant gladiator just for laughs. There is one who stands against all that is evil and is prepared to aid those in need during the end of times and it's been made by Icon. This is Icon's custom Ducati Super Sport 900 they call "The Operator" and it's here to help stitch your arms back on and set you on your wasteland way.

2009 595 Supermono Strada | Phil Aynsley Photography

2009 595 Supermono Strada | Phil Aynsley Photography | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Developed by noted Ducati Supermono tuner Alistair Wager, the Strada is the Supermono Ducati never built. Wager bought much of the factory's remaining parts stock and commissioned Pierobon, who built the original frames for Ducati, to construct a further 10. Of the 3 road-going bikes he's built to date, this (the 3rd) is the most like the originals. The main changes from the 1993 racers are the use of the Testastretta head, 104mm piston, 54mm throttle body with shower type injectors & starter motor (all from the 999R). The exhaust runs on the opposite side to the original. A one piece billet steel crank and balance mechanism are fitted (the later was cast originally). Green powder coated aluminium side cases replicate the magnesium originals. NGR slipper clutch. The carbon fibre body work is of modern, lighter type. The Ohlins rear shock was built up from NOS parts. The bike produces 75hp at the rear wheel and weighs 137kg wet. Cost £40,000 plus VAT. Photographed in New Zealand, 2012. Bill Irwin collection.

JvB-moto Ducati Pantah | BikeEXIF.com

JvB-moto Ducati Pantah | BikeEXIF.com | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
It’s always fascinating to see the personal rides of well-known custom motorcycle builders. Rough Crafts’ Winston Yeh, for example, rides a tiny PGO 125cc scooter. This Ducati Pantah belongs to JvB-moto‘s Jens vom Brauck, and prowls the roads around Cologne in Germany.

“I wanted it to look like it was found in a shed in Bologna,” says vom Brauck. “A futuristic design study for a 1981 motor show, but never displayed … the work of a designer who was a café racer fan, but could not convince the Ducati factory.”

Vom Brauck has aimed for a mix of styles, materials and parts from the last 30 years. The wheels and tires are deliberately narrow in profile, to retain a retro look. A smattering of carbon fiber provides contrast. Vom Brauck cut down the Pantah’s rear subframe and heavily modified the tank, adding oil pressure and electrical warning lights.

The exhaust was built from parts Vom Brauck had lying around, including bits from an obscure MZ 1000S. “It has a nice, aggressive sound, but not too loud. And no, the butt doesn’t get too hot!” Performance is good: the Pantah weighs just 170 kg in this trim.

And before you ask, Vom Brauck has no plans to create another Pantah, or offer the parts for sale. For him, the Ducati has been a very personal endeavor, created over three years. A shame, but at least we can enjoy the images.

Ducati 900TT by Rad Ducati | Silodrome

Ducati 900TT by Rad Ducati | Silodrome | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
I have a long held love of the team over at Rad Ducati, their stunning technical ability is matched by the rare talent needed to create a bike that looks as good as it handles. Not many builders pull this off.

This bike started life as a 1992 Ducati 900TT, already a very serious bike in it’s own right. Interestingly, the first thing Rad Ducati did was add a modified Yamaha TZ 250 GP solo seat and modified Yamaha TZ 250 GP front fairings. Tell this to any hardcore Ducatiphile and they’ll be frothing at the mouth but the end result with this bike is superb...More here

Alain Wicki – Ducati Hillclimber Study | il Ducatista

Alain Wicki – Ducati Hillclimber Study | il Ducatista | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

This is a cool build by Alain Wicki, the swiss luge champion and initiator of the 1996 Lamborghini Raptor project. Thanks to Gilberto, from Narrow Lanes for taking the pictures and letting me use them exclusively on here. Gilberto took the pictures last weekend – 25th-27th of May – during the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este in Lago di Como, Italy. Alain Wicki is a three-time luge medalist and aficionado of things that go fast – I mean this guy goes head first down an icy half-pipe at speeds of around 140km per hour..  http://ilducatista.wordpress.com/2012/05/29/alain-wicki-ducati-hillclimber-study/

No, I am not confused, but you may be just by looking at all these pictures and realizing that they are from 2 different custom Ducatis. These bikes with the overall same appearance and paint job are the work of Yuri Shif, for me Europe’s custom builder with the wildest/most elegant/most beautifully executed ideas. His motorcycle fantasies are infinite and you never know what’s coming next from this Russian/Belarus customizer....For the rest of this story click on the headline above

Moto Corse Japan – 2006 Paul Smart Custom | il Ducatista

Moto Corse Japan – 2006 Paul Smart Custom | il Ducatista | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Another one for Paul Smart Week...

This build comes from the Moto Corse dealership of Tokyo, Japan. The bike started as a 2006 Paul Smart 1000 L.E.. The Ducati Paul Smart 1000 L.E. is inspired by the 1974 Super Sport 750 and is a tribute to the 750 “Imola” bike that English racer Paul Smart took to victory in the 1972 Imola 200. On a cloudy day in April 1972, Paul Smart rode a new untested Ducati 750 twin to a historic surprise victory at the Imola 200, beating all competitors; more-so, in the same race the Italian racer Bruno Spaggiari, also riding a Ducati 750, crossed the finish line in second place. Inspired by these results, Fabio Taglioni decided to introduce production motorcycles with the styling and the latest technological solutions of the 750 “Imola“....lots more details, specs and photos, on the headline link above
