2012 in review – Stoner retires! Rossi leaves! Ducati sold! OMG Justin Bieber buys an 848! | Ducati.net | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Our first year of Ductalk.com has now come to an end and in reflection, I don’t remember a year when there was more to write about in the Ducati world and that’s coming from somebody that bought her first Ducati 23 years ago.  In that regard, our timing to start Ductalk was lucky, because few days came and went without something worthy of mention.  Bombshell announcements (Stoner retires! Rossi leaves! Ducati sold! Justin Bieber buys an 848!) were the monthly norm. And the images? Well, I doubt there will ever be another rider and bike combination more beautiful at rest or speed than the spectacular colors in combination of Ducati, Rossi and Drudi....

Bevelheaded | Tod Rafferty | Ducati.net | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

As a long-term Ducatista (50 years!), I’ve owned some of the best and ridden most of the rest. My own highlight was the ’74 750 Sport, which I rode from Ohio to California (with clip-ons), a trip described in the May ’75 issue of Cycle Guide. Next in line would be the Desmo 350 and the 250 Scrambler. In my seniority I remain bevelheaded....More here: http://www.ducati.net/2012/04/bevelheaded-by-tod-rafferty/

Ductalk Spotlight - featured website | ducatimeccanica.com - for vintage and classic Ducati motorcycle enthusiasts | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Today's Ductalk spotlight: DucatiMeccanica.com is a labor of love from Canadian gearheads Rene and Sue Waters (that's Sue in the drawing, at Bonneville on her bevel Ducati).  It was the first Bevel site on the web and remains a go to source for most things bevel.

"Classic Ducati motorcycle enthusiasts, resources for owners and restorers, online manuals, parts sources, photos, articles, tips, rebuilds, bikes for sale, restorations, and the bevelheads mail forum..."

BikeEXIF | Ducati 750 Racer | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
One of the most beautiful racing motorcycles ever made is Ducati's 750SS Corsa.

Carlo Saltarelli has Ducati blood in his veins. He’s a former racer, test rider and dealership owner, and over the years, he’s built up a 100-bike collection of classic Ducatis. In May, this collection goes under the hammer in Monaco. For us, the highlight is this beautiful 1974 750SS Corsa: it’s one of Saltarelli’s own race bikes, and took him to several podium finishes during the 1974 and 1975 seasons.

This machine probably started life as a 750GT and was uprated to competition spec by Reparto Corse Ducati. As you would expect, the components are mouthwatering: twin Dell’Orto PHM 40 mm carburettors, lightweight pistons and competition cams, plus a lightweight clutch and an oil cooler....more
