Valentino returns to the Blancpain Series at the Nurburgring | OmniCorse.it

Valentino returns to the Blancpain Series at the Nurburgring | OmniCorse.it | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

(translated by Google)

Next weekend, Valentino Rossi returns to venture into the world of four wheels. As he had done earlier in the season, the nine-time world champion in the world of two wheels will participate in a round of the Blancpain Endurance Series . And just like in Monza , even at Nurburgring the Pesaro native will be at the wheel of a Ferrari 458 GT3 managed by Kessel Racing , sharing the cockpit with the great friend Alessio "Uccio" Salucci . During the first appearance in the series, the two managed to qualify in the top ten, having to then settle for 18th place finish, the "Doctor" but you was the protagonist of a great comeback to overcome an accident triggered by the colleague. Moreover, after this first experience Valentino had already said quite clearly that he would not let slip any opportunity to return to the wheel of the 458 and then immediately accepted this new call.

Louis Jubi WalzWerks Ducati | the Bike Shed

Louis Jubi WalzWerks Ducati | the Bike Shed | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

What this donor bike has is an old-school style Ducati frame – giving the flat upper line which, unlike most Ducatis, allows a proper cafe seat and tank, plus it has a rear loop already in place. Combine all this with a modern, reliable Ducati Dual Spark Motor (as per the Monster and Hypermotard) and up-to-date running gear with upside down forks and relatively light spoked wheels, with a wide rear rim that can accommodate a 180 tyre. In other words, old school ideas with new (ish) school thinking.

Return of the Cafe Racers: SD04 Ducati 900SS custom

Return of the Cafe Racers: SD04 Ducati 900SS custom | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

For some time now I have considered the use of carbon fibre on many custom motorcycles as being rather clichéd. Ducati were one of the manufacturers who jumped on the carbon fibre band wagon a few years back by adding a multitude of bolt on carbon parts to their accessories range. Currently they have around 140 carbon accessories available on their site most of which have a dress up purpose rather than functional. Luckily UK workshop Made in Metal had grander plans than simply looking good when they started their latest carbon covered Ducati 900SS custom.

Ducati Monster 1100R by Arrick Maurice | motorivista.com | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
What would be the most desirable iconic naked sportbike ? Answer to that would be the Ducati Monster, the aesthetic appeal and structural efficiency is what made this bike iconic.

While most drawn to the Ducati Monster for its raw beauty and performance, many consider it a blank canvas, perfect for customization and personalization.
The feature of the day a Ducati Monster 1100R belongs to Arrick Maurice brand manager of Ducati’s North American market. Arrick’s custom Ducati Monster 1100R was a non-eligible entry for the 2011 Monster Challenge.

Return of the Cafe Racers: Ducati Super Sport 900 The Operator by Icon

Return of the Cafe Racers: Ducati Super Sport 900 The Operator by Icon | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Some time in the foreseeable future the advent of an apocalypse due to a zombie outbreak, nuclear war or perhaps even global warming, will cause the total breakdown of society as we know it. When this disaster happens the majority of the survivors will more than likely become desert roaming vigilantes fighting to the death for the next tank of fuel or can of dog food. Never fear though, not everyone will be out to dismember you or throw you in a cage with a giant gladiator just for laughs. There is one who stands against all that is evil and is prepared to aid those in need during the end of times and it's been made by Icon. This is Icon's custom Ducati Super Sport 900 they call "The Operator" and it's here to help stitch your arms back on and set you on your wasteland way.

2009 595 Supermono Strada | Phil Aynsley Photography

2009 595 Supermono Strada | Phil Aynsley Photography | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

Developed by noted Ducati Supermono tuner Alistair Wager, the Strada is the Supermono Ducati never built. Wager bought much of the factory's remaining parts stock and commissioned Pierobon, who built the original frames for Ducati, to construct a further 10. Of the 3 road-going bikes he's built to date, this (the 3rd) is the most like the originals. The main changes from the 1993 racers are the use of the Testastretta head, 104mm piston, 54mm throttle body with shower type injectors & starter motor (all from the 999R). The exhaust runs on the opposite side to the original. A one piece billet steel crank and balance mechanism are fitted (the later was cast originally). Green powder coated aluminium side cases replicate the magnesium originals. NGR slipper clutch. The carbon fibre body work is of modern, lighter type. The Ohlins rear shock was built up from NOS parts. The bike produces 75hp at the rear wheel and weighs 137kg wet. Cost £40,000 plus VAT. Photographed in New Zealand, 2012. Bill Irwin collection.

JvB-moto Ducati Pantah | BikeEXIF.com

JvB-moto Ducati Pantah | BikeEXIF.com | Desmopro News | Scoop.it
It’s always fascinating to see the personal rides of well-known custom motorcycle builders. Rough Crafts’ Winston Yeh, for example, rides a tiny PGO 125cc scooter. This Ducati Pantah belongs to JvB-moto‘s Jens vom Brauck, and prowls the roads around Cologne in Germany.

“I wanted it to look like it was found in a shed in Bologna,” says vom Brauck. “A futuristic design study for a 1981 motor show, but never displayed … the work of a designer who was a café racer fan, but could not convince the Ducati factory.”

Vom Brauck has aimed for a mix of styles, materials and parts from the last 30 years. The wheels and tires are deliberately narrow in profile, to retain a retro look. A smattering of carbon fiber provides contrast. Vom Brauck cut down the Pantah’s rear subframe and heavily modified the tank, adding oil pressure and electrical warning lights.

The exhaust was built from parts Vom Brauck had lying around, including bits from an obscure MZ 1000S. “It has a nice, aggressive sound, but not too loud. And no, the butt doesn’t get too hot!” Performance is good: the Pantah weighs just 170 kg in this trim.

And before you ask, Vom Brauck has no plans to create another Pantah, or offer the parts for sale. For him, the Ducati has been a very personal endeavor, created over three years. A shame, but at least we can enjoy the images.

Flying Hermans’ Ducati Cafe Racer | the Bike Shed

Flying Hermans’ Ducati Cafe Racer | the Bike Shed | Desmopro News | Scoop.it

It’s hard to believe that this pristine looking bike was totalled after a crash last year, as not only has it been totally rebuilt, it’s become one of the nicest Ducati Sport Classic 1000s we’ve come across – and we’ve seen a few.

The owner, Andy, is part of a group of crazy Belgians who ride in a cafe racer club called the Flying Hermans, which they started up a couple of years so. Last summer he crashed his pride and joy on a ride, and although it was a insurance write-off Andy simply couldn’t let the bike go so he decided to rebuild it, with “one or two few improvements”…

I’ve made this comparison before, but Radical Ducati is to motorcycles what Skunk Works is to aircraft. The Spanish garage has been taking stock Ducatis and turning them into two wheeled missiles for years now and as such they’ve earned a deserved reputation as the single greatest custom Ducati garage in the world....

Here's one nice piece of news to the fans of customized fighters. Welcome the Ninester, stripped-down 2001 Ducati Monster, with aggressive and at the same time, flowing looks.

One of the nicest things about this Ducati is the fact the bike looks very clean and this adds major on the cool factor scale. The wiring has been cleverly and skillfully hidden under the wide Ducati 999 fuel tank, so there are no loose wires and cables.
