Great executive guide : a short essay on how to implement it (in a very easy and low-jargon way) in your company, with excerpt from interesting previous Wise Talk, by the way, do not miss Roger Martin's one on march 21st !
Think about it, innovation is an emerging field. Therefore, at any given time, new tools are being developed, tested and refined in response to new kinds of problems, advances in technology, or as older methods are upgraded or mothballed.
I strongly believe that a founder should be able to explain what they do in one paragraph. I’m not a believer in the “one sentence mashup approach” (e.g. “We are like Pinterest + Groupon + Facebook for dogs”). Rather, I like three sentences:
(1) what we do,
(2) how we do it to, and
3) why you should care.
Sometimes this can be two sentences, sometimes four, but never more than a paragraph.
Recently we visited the office of an old friend at a young Silicon Valley start-up. It didn’t take long to spot the first pirate flag—the skull and bones banner that has come to symbolize the renegade attitude of the Valley’s tech disruptors.
A l'occasion de Paris design week, Fleur Pellerin, ministre chargée des PME, de l’innovation et de l’économie numérique a insisté sur le rôle crucial du design dans la performance commerciale des entreprises françaises.

"As part of our “Future of Education” initiative at SAP, John Mayerhofer and I had the honor to speak with Prof. Dr. Meinel about the thinking behind the new openHPI platform, and get his personal perspective on how the education industry is being transformed by the smart use of new technologies. "
We all know the IDEO maxim, “Fail Faster, Succeed Sooner”. Rapid prototyping is a key principle of successful innovation. The sooner we make prototypes, the sooner we figure out what works, what doesn’t, and what to make in the next prototype.
Yet marketers are quicker to PowerPoint than to prototype. We spend more time on two-by-two matrixes and venn diagrams talking about ideas than actually making ideas happen.
“How many logical connections or jumps your brain has to make in order to understand or contextualize the thing you’re looking at.”-- David Demaree
Test it on extreme users !
"The very young and the very old are even more sensitive to cognitive overhead, as their brains aren’t accustomed to the sort of logical leaps our products sometimes require. Grandparents and children make great cognitive overhead detectors.
When you can’t find old or young people, drunk people are a good approximation."
"By trying to appeal to everyone and adding features left, right and centre, you actually dilute your message and could end up with a complex, bloated product." -- Lack of Focus, one of the 10 common mistakes startups make in their UX, more on NetMagazine http://bit.ly/NediAj
While Einstein said he had no special talent aside from being passionately curious (and being possibly the smartest person ever), he also knew how to make time for insight--a skill that's scarce in our present cult of stimulation.
Lois reflects on the combinatorial nature of creativity and echoes insights we’ve already heard from other great creators — the power of cultivating a personal microculture, the idea that to invent is to choose, the importance of “being-in-the-world-ness,” the notion that to create is to discover and connect rather than “invent” out of thin air.

Paris-Est d.school's insight:
"I don’t think I create anything. I’m really serious — I discover the ideas."
Et toute découverte est le fruit d'une bonne inspiration par l'exploration !
Having finely tuned facilitation skills is necessary for anyone who is ready to take the leap from producing work for projects to leading those projects. Gaining these skills pushes you towards a tipping point where your vision and expertise becomes a driving force that can help propel you to that next career opportunity.
"As learning practices and technology tools change, mobile learning itself will continue to evolve. For 2013, the focus is on a variety of challenges, from how learners access content to how the idea of a “curriculum” is defined."
"In our modern Western society we esteem individuals, above all when it comes to disruptive creativity. Great movies are made by one director. Scientific breakthroughs have one discoverer. Brilliant works of art are attributed to one artist. And the success of Apple is the vision of one man. It is all about extremely talented individuals. But things turn out to be different if one studies people in their natural habitat."
Après l’internet et le numérique qui ont bouleversé la distribution traditionnelle, quelque chose est en train d’arriver qui pourrait révolutionner la conception, l’industrie et la production : les fab labs.
