30 Black And Blue Web Designs Inspire [examples]

30 Black And Blue Web Designs Inspire [examples] | Design | Scoop.it

Details of the website as featured within CoolHomepages web design inspiration gallery.

Marty Note
Blue is a great color. There is a reason blue is many of your visitor's favorite color. Online blue is soothing, easy on the eyes and beautiful against black. My favorite is the UK design "un.titled.co.uk" (used as the image above).

Love using opacity to "hide" things in plain view as that kicks in the curiosity of visitors and gets the click. Current Un.titled site isn't as interesting or special as the design noted here. . Love blue online and these examples show why.

Picasso Trigger Learning To Think & Create Websites Like A Child

Picasso Trigger Learning To Think & Create Websites Like A Child | Design | Scoop.it

"I spent a lifetime learning to draw like a child." Picasso

This is an interesting post from Thomas King about the complex nature of simplicity. Picasso's point about spending a lifetime learning to draw like a child seems important for web designers too.

The hardest thing to do is do less. The hardest mind to recover is the exploratory mind, the mind before judgement. When we recover the playful mind, the simple easily rewarding routine of play, our designs run free like Picasso's bull.

My favorite example is Zensorium/Tinke http://www.dtelepathy.com/blog/inspiration/30-compelling-examples-of-visual-storytelling-on-the-web.

There are still a some rough edges to be cut off theidea of wrapping a website around digital storytelling, but deep inside these examples is a clear new trend...even if all the bugs haven't been quite worked out yet.

What about you? Do you have favorite examples of great visual storytelling online?

25 Examples of Flat Design Inspire | Vandelay Design

25 Examples of Flat Design Inspire | Vandelay Design | Design | Scoop.it

It almost seems that this year flat designs have taken over the world of graphic design by force, but especially in the arena of mobile apps with the first industry-shaking flat design being for the iPhone5. Reality is that flat design has been around longer than the emergence of the iPhone5, but of course it was Apple that helped to bring such cross-industry awareness to the design style.

I was wrestling with why we are suddenly awash in "flat design". My first thought was flat design is more lean, easier to figure out where to go and what do do. Nope.

Flat design is upon us because of mobile as this excellent post and 25 examples shares flat transfers beautifully between desktop and mobile. Flat is the new black, so wear it well and find inspiration in these 25 examples.

Shipping containers aren't just rectangular boxes - at least not in creative hands.

Lola Ripollés's curator insight, January 8, 2014 5:39 PM

One of the architectural trends we hope to see more of in 2014 is eco-friendly architecture, and these buildings are excellent examples of that. All over the world, architects are repurposing old shipping containers and turning them into innovative, beautiful houses, hotels, libraries, workspaces, and even seaside observation decks. Shipping container buildings are designed to have a minimal impact on the environment, are cost-effective, and modular designs can easily be moved from place to place. Betty Fitzgerald's curator insight, January 9, 2014 6:01 PM

It's nice to see shipping containers beautified. Not just an ugly extra garage for the old buick.:D
