Sound map of the danube - Annea Lockwood

Sound map of the danube - Annea Lockwood | DESARTSONNANTS - CRÉATION SONORE ET ENVIRONNEMENT - ENVIRONMENTAL SOUND ART - PAYSAGES ET ECOLOGIE SONORE | Scoop.it

Yet New-Zealand-born, New York- based composer Annea Lockwood has knelt down over the banks of some of the world’s most important river systems, reached into their waters and drawn out musical ideas of impressive singularity. Her 2005 sound installation A Sound Map of the Danube is a tribute to a river’s beguiling aural beauty. Assembled as a collage of field recordings, Lockwood’s work plays like an epic sound novel. Its narrative follows the journey of this mighty Eastern European river, from its source in the Black Forest to its delta at the shores of the Black Sea...

Sound Mapping in Linz, Austria - Iain Mott, Marc Raszewski and Jim Sosnin

Sound Mapping in Linz, Austria - Iain Mott, Marc Raszewski and Jim Sosnin | DESARTSONNANTS - CRÉATION SONORE ET ENVIRONNEMENT - ENVIRONMENTAL SOUND ART - PAYSAGES ET ECOLOGIE SONORE | Scoop.it

Sound Mapping is a participatory work of sound art made for outdoor environments. The work is installed in the environment by means of a Global Positioning System (GPS), which tracks movement of individuals through the space. Participants wheel four movement-sensitive, sound producing suitcases to realise a composition that spans space as well as time. The suitcases play music in response to nearby architectural features and the movements of individuals. Sound Mapping aims to assert a sense of place, physicality and engagement to reaffirm the relationship between art and the everyday.

Networked Music Review — Sound Fields: Mapping Acoustic Territories [NYC] | DESARTSONNANTS - CRÉATION SONORE ET ENVIRONNEMENT - ENVIRONMENTAL SOUND ART - PAYSAGES ET ECOLOGIE SONORE | Scoop.it

Exhibition to take place in a massive industrial space in Brooklyn. Sound Fields is about sound and the city, different acoustic territories and the control of them. In public places one wanders in a field of sounds that are ambient and discrete, loud and soft, which form intermittent relationships withone another. This acoustic mise en scène is often deemed distracting or cacophonous, leading to the marginalization of sound that is judged to be noise....

john grzinich : sound + site + artistic research...

This workshop is about the perception of sound and using observation to direct attention for understanding how sound affects the way we think about time and space. Space can be understood in many ways, but for our purposes we will focus on the “mapping” of space through experiences that range from cartography (map reading and making) to more personal impressions (drawings, notes, sketches). The workshop is based on making a series of listening, analysis and soundwalk exercises to highlight sensory awareness. The experiences of both public and mediated space form a base for use as material for creating different types of “maps”. The maps made help reflect both objective and subjective approaches and can be created using a range of means from drawing or photo collage to cartography and gps tracking. Through these exercises we will look at different ways of expressing the connections between sound, space and our presence that zooms from small details to the big picture, from the personal to the shared...

Sound Mapping : les cartes prennent vie

Sound Mapping : les cartes prennent vie | DESARTSONNANTS - CRÉATION SONORE ET ENVIRONNEMENT - ENVIRONMENTAL SOUND ART - PAYSAGES ET ECOLOGIE SONORE | Scoop.it
