The point - Rick Tarquinio.

Caviar Point, or Bayside, in Greenwich was once the site of a thriving fishery. A century ago hundreds of fishermen hauled sturgeon out of the Delaware Bay to supply caviar to the city dwellers in North Jersey. At its peak 4 or 5 traincar loads of caviar left the point on the tracks you see in this video. Another set is partially buried in the marshgrass of the point. It only took 40 years or so to decimate the sturgeon population to the brink of extinction. In the early 1900's the fishery collapsed. I don't know if it was abandoned, dismantled or what. This pan was shot at low tide. At high tide everything is submerged, like it was never even there. I'm working on a multimedia release about the point using sound, photographs, video and words to try to express my feelings after stumbling on this place and returning to it to shoot and record.
