The usage of a TSA-abutment makes it possible to prevent these problems. The natural movement of our own teeth is mimicked.

This attachement makes it possible to connect natural teeth with an implant. Net to the classic crown & bridge structures, there is also a version for overdenture. For more information, please visit our website.

David's curator insight, January 9, 2013 11:09 AM

My thoughts:

I can relate to this because I know that my mom dislikes doing implants because of how difficult and time consuming they are. This would make dental implants for general dentists such as my mom much easier. It is amazing the new technology that people can come up with and this means that whenI become a dentist this technology will be available for me!

A new surgical guide for immediate implant placement in the post extraction socket

A new surgical guide for immediate implant placement in the post extraction socket | Dental Implant and Bone Regeneration | Scoop.it

Tremendous satisfaction and comfort can be obtained both for patient and dentist with the dental implant at the extracted tooth area by making and offering the provisional tooth on the same day of treatment. It is quite essential to secure the stability with the implant for successful surgery, which can be obtained by implementing accurate osteotomy on the palatal wall of extracted tooth. Using the IPIP Kit allows the accurate bone reduction to firmly place the dental implant on the exact position intended by dentist, preventing the distorted drill direction during the drilling operation.

Calcium phosphate-coated dental implants are comparable to survival rates of noncoated implants

Calcium phosphate-coated dental implants are comparable to survival rates of noncoated implants | Dental Implant and Bone Regeneration | Scoop.it

Calcium phosphate ceramic coatings have the potential to compensate for challenging bone conditions such as delayed or impaired bone healing and low bone quantity or density. Thus, the increasing universal prevalence of subjects with such challenging bone conditions might be paralleled by an enhanced global use of calcium phosphate ceramic-coated dental implants. However, it is speculated that the long-term clinical survival of calcium phosphate-coated dental implants might be adversely affected by coating delamination.

The effect of load on heat production, thermal effects and expenditure of time during implant site preparation – an experimental ex vivo comparison between piezosurgery and conventional drilling | Dental Implant and Bone Regeneration | Scoop.it

PS yields significantly higher temperatures and thermal tissue alterations on load levels higher than 500 g and is significantly slower for ISP compared to SB and TB. For ISP with PS, a maximum load of 400 g should be maintained.

Impurities set back implant surgery

Impurities set back implant surgery | Dental Implant and Bone Regeneration | Scoop.it

Lee Jae-hoon, a professor at the college of dentistry at Yonsei University, reported in Implant Dentistry, an international journal, that one can improve the integration between the two by preventing aging of the implant. As time passes the implant gets organic matters on its surface, which hinders the implant from being integrated with the protein that constitutes the cells in the alveolar bone. New implants that have just been manufactured thus have a 2.2 times higher integration rate than implants which are four weeks old.

MatriStem devices are comprised of naturally-occurring porcine urinary bladder matrix (UBM). MatriStem is a non-crosslinked, completely resorbable, acellular extracellular matrix scaffold with naturally-occurring collagens, featuring an intact epithelial basement membrane surface and tunica propria surface.

UBM contains a collection of collagens and proteins arranged in a three-dimensional structure not currently available in synthetic materials and has been demonstrated to:

- Maintain an intact epithelial basement membrane

- Contain numerous collagens

- Contain laminin

- Contain numerous growth factors

- Display antimicrobial activity

- Contain glycosaminoglycans (GAGs)

- Incorporate completely
