How can I improve supply chain visibility?
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

The visibility of supply chain is essential for the development of a retail business in particular for the accuracy of the inventory. It contributes to reduce out-of-stock incidents, it helps to reduce in global working capital.

RFID technology helps to reach that goal by sending alerts when the stock is about to finish in order to fill again automatically. Therefore, this is a solution to avoid delays in orders and customer claims. Thanks to RFID, supply chain gains more transparency, retailers benefit from superior inventory and goods can be tracked.

This technology is being the key to success to retailers who are willing to develop their businesses and trying to keep their customers from going to competitors, by providing a reliable and value added service. One must always put customer satisfaction at the heart of its business, because a good customer experience guaranties the growth and financial sustainability of a company.

E-commerce : A bill to protect consumers!

E-commerce : A bill to protect consumers! | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
L'Usine Digitale :
Avec 9 milliards d’euros de chiffre d’affaires estimé en France au moment des fêtes de Noël, le e-commerce a pris une...
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

The Minister for Consumption Benoît Hamon announced his intention to introduce a bill that will pass the particular period of retraction from 7 to 14 days. A response to the growing of e-commerce and the protection of consumers. With 9 billion in revenue estimated in France at Christmas period, e-commerce has gained considerable importance. It continued to have a strong growth since 2011, the volume of online shopping at the same period of the year was EUR 7.6 billion, an increase of over 20% compared to 2010.

"We must be extremely careful today to broaden the debate on the conditions in which this trade implements," he said, adding: "This is a reason why one of the measures that I will take this year in the bill that I defend is to extend the period of retraction of consumers from 7 to 14 days. "

According to the minister, the increase of the retraction period - which concerns also products bought in traditional shops - would allow consumers to have more time to react and thus return products which do not correspond to their expectations.

Benoît Hamon points out «some foreign sites that can mislead the consumer».  With this kind of practice that continue to "grow", the Minister highlighted that some "means of control of Internet commerce much stronger than before" now exist to prevent consumer from that kind of fraud.

The passage of the retraction period from 7 to 14 days is actually part of a European harmonization in the field of consumer rights. A directive to this effect was passed by Brussels in late 2011 and the deadline for transposition in the Member States was then fixed at 31 December 2013. The retraction period will be raised to the same level as already practiced in Germany and Belgium.

E-commerce is reaching such a level, that sometimes it can be dangerous for  customers. In fact, their rights need to be respected so that they can feel secured by the transactions even when they have already paid the money. They should be able to return when the products don’t satisfy their expectations. Overall, customers should be protected from web hikers whose goal is to rip off their victims. All that will contribute to the dynamism of e-commerce and will be profitable for both customers and e-merchants.

Supply Chain and Logistics Technology: Four trends shaping mobility for more visibility!

Supply Chain and Logistics Technology: Four trends shaping mobility for more visibility! | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
The market’s top analysts discuss the trends that are pushing mobility deeper into every-day use and explain just how far we are from realizing real-time supply chain management—complete with logistics visibility that was once only the stuff of...
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

New technologies are integrating more and more our daily life. It is possible for logistics managers to take advantage of mobile supply chain in order to make shipment visible to any customer. Thanks to the rapid growth of cellular technology, customer experience is successfully met and traditional telematics systems are being outdated.

The new devices being more affordable, any shipping company can add value to its services by having sophisticated equipment and accurate information on the location of goods. Consumer is very sensitive to all aspects of its purchase from product design to delivery time and the way to return the product when necessary. Visibility in the supply chain management is the key to handle such requirements. Companies should be able to manage the correct data at the right time in order to be competitive and gain more customer satisfaction.

A new way to buy on the internet: Click & Collect!

A new way to buy on the internet: Click & Collect! | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

The trend of Click & Collect was a success during this Christmas 2012. More retailers are spending money on these solutions since more consumers are trusting m-commerce and adopting a new way to shop via apps. The payment via mobile banking allows backing up this trend.

Multichannels are increasing, since e-shoppers are using multiple sales and communication channels. Retailers should prove that they are able to deal with these channels and offer integrated cross-channel services. The luckiest retailers who already own the equipment to ensure these channels are far away the best to reach success. The combination of both online and in-store experience is complementary.

Collaboration can provide many benefits for businesses, for instance, larger deliveries reduces the number of trips, less packaging for products, less product wastage. Customer also needs to know that he can track at any time his package until he is delivered. This transparency should be promoted by e-commerce actors. It is a necessary element to seduce customer views towards e-commerce. The coordination of the supply chain processes from the order to home delivery should not be neglected to make the difference.

Supply Chain Visibility – The Beginning Rather Than the End?

Supply Chain Visibility – The Beginning Rather Than the End? | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
For some years now, “supply chain visibility” has been held up as the solution to every supply chain director’s problem.
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

It is very important to know how to use the right data at the right time in order to optimize delivery process by reducing time to market, minimize inventory and cut costs.

It is not easy to deal with the large amount of data, from emails, newsletters to spreadsheets and management reports.

The visibility in today’s supply chains passes by being aware of the location of materials and goods and the evolution of their volumes. This information should be shared for a good coordination in order to take the right decision and meet customer demands. The evolution of global sourcing and procurement passes through real-time visibility thanks to IT solutions combined with supply chain management systems.

By having a trustworthy system, supply chains allow their customers to be satisfied with the delivery time and remain loyal. This will result in a growing market, with more and more customers and volumes. Similarly, with an economy of scale, cost can be reduced and the business more competitive. Information management that leads to a good visibility is the key to nowadays businesses if they want to offer the best services to customers and be competitive.

Amazon launches its own virtual currency for Kindle Fire: 'Amazon Coins'

Amazon launches its own virtual currency for Kindle Fire: 'Amazon Coins' | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
Now Amazon has yet another way to differentiate the Kindle Fire from other Android tablets.
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

Amazon is once again making the differentiation by announcing its customized virtual coins. A new strategy that gives the Kindle Fire more visibility compared to other Android tablets. The virtual coins allow purchasing apps and games.

This new strategy make payment terms easier for e-purchasers, but also it will encourage people to spend more money on those apps and games.

Giants like Amazon with big cash flow can invest and take advantage of new technologies in order to keep up with their e-customers and meet their expectations, even beyond their expectations. How could smaller online retailers face such a fierce competition?

Innovation, creativity and partnership are the essential arms for financially weaker online retailers to continue to have their market share and maybe to hope to take some shares from their biggest competitors.

Mobile Apps Contribute Mere 4% Of e- Commerce Revenue For e-Stores!

Mobile Apps Contribute Mere 4% Of e- Commerce Revenue For e-Stores! | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
In spite of explosive growth in mobile space, businesses are yet to realize Mobile apps’ contribution in e-Commerce revenue.
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

Mobile apps only generated 4% of total e-Commerce revenue and all combined mobile channels only 5% through m-commerce in 2012 globally.

These results are lower than expected since the Smartphone presence in e-commerce increased recently.

As 10% of all internet traffic is originated from mobile devices, it is obvious that mobile app market is a promising market.

Giants in the mobile sector, such as Apple and Google Android control more than 4/5 of the Smartphone market. E-commerce market is full of opportunities and now m-commerce is a new channel to make the internet purchase easier to e-shoppers.

Even if the growth in m-commerce is slower than expected, the emergence of new channel s predicts that a boom is about to come. In other words, a more optimized organization in the delivery solutions of all those new purchases is necessary, since more people will begin to order online. Appropriate logistics system and customer services will make the difference between competitors.

Do People Actually Shop on Phones? The Answer Is Decidedly Yes

Do People Actually Shop on Phones? The Answer Is Decidedly Yes | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
Mobile devices have clearly changed the way people shop. In 2012, consumers spent $25 billion, or 11 percent of e-commerce dollars, while shopping on mobile devices, particularly tablets, according to data from eMarketer.
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

Mobile era has arrived in e-commerce. Phones and tablets were used by e-shopper to purchase for an amount of $25 billion in 2012. It was an increase of 81 percent compared to 2011 according to eMarketer. Mobile purchase is expected to reach 15 percent in 2013.

A prediction of eMarketer for 2016 suggests that M-commerce will reach $87 billion of all e-commerce which is very impressive. The good surprise is that mobile and smatphones are the new outsiders of e-commerce technology, allowing e-shoppers to have more access to their purchases.

Tablets are being more used than smartphones because they are more adpted to e-shoppers, easier to touch and play with.

Like always, big e-commerce players took an edge over their smaller competitors by investing money in mobile commerce in order to have more success with their customers.

The Google & LG Nexus 4 Partnership Has Been A Failure Of Logistics

The Google & LG Nexus 4 Partnership Has Been A Failure Of Logistics | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
Users keep waiting for the new Android flagship smartphone, while Google and LG deflect the blame.
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

A big disappointment for those who were waiting for a new Android Nexus 4  smartphone from Google and LG. There was a disruption in stocks for the Nexus 4 both through the official Google Play store and carriers like T-Mobile in the United States.

In fact, LG has underestimated the demand and big interest given to the Nexus 4 which is one of the first quad-core smartphones to reach U.S. market and bring specific hardware know-how.

The distribution strategy is to blame since there was a big trouble in the supply chain management.

Who is the main guilty for this disorganization? All parties from Google’s choice of partner to LG’s inability to control its supply chain and failure to meet deadlines and customers’ satisfaction. This failure in the management of logistics has cost both companies reputation towards their customers in the future and a lot of money in the loss of orders. All to say that logistics is the core value in e-commerce and could be a difficult task to master even for giants as Google and LG.

Google Apologizes To Customers Angry Over Nexus 4 Delays

Google Apologizes To Customers Angry Over Nexus 4 Delays | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
"I know that what you are going through is unacceptable"
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

Even Google is not immune to a delay. In fact, during these busy periods of christmas, Google faced a supply shortages for its Nexus 4 in UK due to poor communication about delivery estimates and payments times.

Customers are very sentsitive to delivery delays, especially when the products ordered are gifts. Giant such as Google, can also have problems in their supply chain.

It is important to note that a good coordination between all participants in the supply chain is very important, and also the transparency in time and tracking can be a bonus for a company to satisfy its customers and be more reliable towards them. That is not just specific to UK but to all countries that rely on e-commerce. Good supply chain means qualified participants to monitor every step from the orders of products to the delivery to your homes.

The Danger of failing to adapt to the changing e-commerce market!

The Danger of failing to adapt to the changing e-commerce market! | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

European e-commerce as said before is continuing to grow regardless to the decline in other retail sales at the same time period.

The war between pure players and brick and mortar retailers to grasp and increase their market share is taking place. The fact to adapt to the changing environment and be flexible in the supply chain service offerings to match customers’ demand is essential. The example of Jessops and Comet in the UK in being to too slow to adopt a multi-channel approach conducted the business to go bankrupt. The danger to not be flexible at the right time faces logistics providers and postal service which had to offer a tailored service for transport and returns. However, many of them are still not ready to adapt to the new system.

It is time to anticipate global e-commerce changes and to be as flexible as possible in order to not shut business. Every actor of e-commerce is concerned from pure players to logistics providers, from supply chain management to e-logistics adviser who can suggest the best channel to use in order to deliver on time the right purchase to the right customers.

The complexity of global supply chains, increasing costs, explosion in order and delivery channels, rising customer expectations and new consumer behavior ...
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

E-commerce actors are facing a difficult time when it comes to manage the complexity of global supply chains. Customers are more demanding; orders are booming, delivery channels are multiplying. Therefore, the quality of delivery is going down. With the rise of transport costs and spending to meet deadline delivery time, businesses especially smaller ones are threaten financially.

In order to meet such requirement without going bankrupt, outsourcing is one of the best solutions to include to business plan. Their supply chain should integrate multi-channel requirements and coordinate the operations. Partnership with other structures can reduce cost and maximize the organization performance, especially when it comes to meet customer expectations for smaller businesses.

Bigger ones can invest in new technologies for their supply chain platform to coordinate their action and keep their promise towards their customers. It is up to smaller organizations to be creative and innovative, in order to not be swallowed by the complexity of new trends. J'ai testé le e-commerce
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

This feedback purchasing on the internet shows the prominence of the delivery status in the perception of the customer experience.

Some are satisfied with their delivery deadlines and the facilities to track their parcels without any problem and in a fast way. Others are disappointed because their orders were delayed even though an appointment was fixed or that an important element is missing in the package delivered.

TAT Express proposed a tool to make appointments. The system is simple and effective; the customer has to click and select the day and time of delivery that suits him. At the beginning of delivery operation, a text message is sent to confirm or refine the delivery time.

We see that customer experience is very important and simple to achieve, a good delivery process on time can change customer behavior and make him loyal. It is in this level of logistics and delivery solutions that competition will occur among retailers.

[Dossier] Petite visite chez Amazon.fr

[Dossier] Petite visite chez Amazon.fr | Best delivery solutions for France ! | Scoop.it
Il y a un petit mois, nous étions en visite dans les locaux d’Amazon France à Saran, une occasion unique de découvrir l’envers du décor de ce géant du net....
Augustin Gueldry's insight:

Amazon has long ago made from its logistics a weapon to win customers and that allowed it to have a prominent place in the global e-commerce.

The organization is currently still very manual process and is particularly designed to achieve a high level of performance with regularity.

Indeed, the complexity comes from the proper coordination of all stages of order processing, absorbing volume changes during the year with absolute regularity for millions of orders.

The challenge is that disaster can happen at any moment if there is a problem in the management storage locations because as often the devil is in the details.

The success of Amazon is to be able to inspire confidence and build a strong relationship with its Internet users: will my order be well treated (reliable article delivered, good quality of packaging, good timing in preparation and shipping, easy to return or exchange etc. ...) This does not mean that there is never an error, but the rate is enough low so that the user is not discourage to continue with Amazon.

The recent acquisition of Kiva could however change the organizational model of Amazon in the coming years: http://www.humanoides.fr/2012/09/12/amazon-robotise-ses-centres-de- storage /

It all sounds simple, but when you look at some major players competing in the market, we see that the long-term reliability can not be decreed, it is built daily and is constantly improving to earn and keep the trust of customers.

The Supply Chain Management has become one of the biggest pillars in the current competition between e-retailers and it is far from an end .
