One Million Moms Against Gun Control asks for your help - News/Current Events - GOP Briefing Room

We have recently become aware of a situation in Baltimore Maryland that deserves attention.

 IT IS TIME TO ACT!

Joshua Welch, a 7 year old boy that goes to school at Park Elementary which is part of the Anne Arrundel County Public School System was recently suspended from school for 2 days after fashioning what school officials say was a weapon out of a Pop Tart.

Yes, you heard right, they say he made a gun out of a Pop Tart!

See the Stories Here:

This list goes on....but we want you to also know that not only did the School  grossly over react, but now they have entered a negative mark on Joshua's PERMANENT record!

We at One Million Moms Against Gun Control, first and foremost are MOMS! And we know that raising children is hard enough without schools and school boards making things even harder for our kids. This is why we urge you to STAND UP, and make a difference. We are launching a letter and email campaign and URGE you to lend a hand. We want YOU and everyone you know to Print out the letters to the right of this article and mail them via the US Postal Service. One to the Park Elementary School addressed to Principal Blondell, who it appears to have attempted to have the mark removed, but was unsuccessful, and one to the Superintendent, Dr. Maxwell. We need everyone on board with this in order to make a difference in this 7 year olds life and get this permanent mark removed so he does not have to be punished for the rest of his educational life for an overactive imagination.

"No President has the right to say that he is judge, jury, and executioner."~~Senator Rand Paul

Re: One Million Moms Against Gun Control asks for your help« » A Maryland stands up against the madness. Still, one is forced to ask, "Is this really necessary"?

Zero tolerance for zero tolerance. That’s how one lawmaker feels about young children being suspended from school for forming their finger or food in the shape of a gun.

As Gigi Barnett explains, he has a bill designed to keep students in class if they’re caught.

State Senator J.B. Jennings says he does not intend for this bill to be a part of the growing gun debate in Maryland, but he does say he wants it to bring some common sense discipline to state schools...

State Senator J.B. Jennings says zero tolerance rules on school campuses are going too far, so he wrote a bill. It bans school leaders from suspending students who make the shape of a gun with their fingers or food, or students who draw a gun on a piece of paper.

“If it’s done in a violent manner, then yes, we can take it to the next level. We can look at suspension,” said Jennings...

So instead of suspension won't this be ridiculous enough? If the bill passes and a student is caught forming their food or fingers in the shape of a gun, they would be sent to a counselor’s office first–not suspension.
http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2013/03/08/so-called-pastry-bill-would-protect-young-children-who-form-finger-food-in-shape-of-gun/ ;

This country gets loonier by the minute.

The insanity never ends...it's time to end Gun Free Zones because they are turning into No Fun Zones....

Parents need to take a stand for their children's rights to imaginative play and freedom of expression. If they are not threatening anyone or physically harming anyone these zero tolerance rules must go!

Stand up for Common Sense and tell these schools you have Zero Tolerance for Zero Tolerance and Gun Free Zones!
