During a long road trip, there's nothing more entertaining than coming across a (tastefully) vandalized street sign. We're not technically condoning acts of vandalism — simply appreciating the artistic license. We've all seen crude street signs, such as speed limits becoming 'pee' limits, or the heralded 'For Lease Navidad'. But others with deeper messages blow their competitors out of the water.

French artist Mademoiselle Maurice has two fun new pieces up this month as part of the 2013 ARTAQ Festival in Angers, France. Requiring over 30,000 folded components, the artist relied on help from school children and people living in nearby 'leisure centers' to help complete all of the pieces in time for installation.

Exhibited at the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York until this month, the work of Alberto Campo Baeza is on display to celebrate the awarding of the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize in Architecture 2013. In a spare white quadrangular room in the main building and with only natural light from above, 24 white panels appear floating over the walls, without touching or marking them.

Bryan Berg, a cardstacker

Bryan Berg, a cardstacker | D_sign | Scoop.it

Bryan Berg was introduced to card-stacking by his grandfather at the age of 8. He is a self-taught artist in all of the techniques he uses today. Berg’s freestanding card structures are based on a grid-like arrangement, which Berg tested in a structural engineering lab to support 660 lbs per square foot ― using no tape, no glue, no folding, and no tricks.
