A Big-Data Approach to Handle Many Process Variations: Tensor Recovery and Applications

A Big-Data Approach to Handle Many Process Variations: Tensor Recovery and Applications | Data Science | Scoop.it

Stochastic spectral methods are a promising technique to quantify the uncertainties caused by process variations. Despite their superior efficiency over Monte Carlo for many design cases, these algorithms suffer from the curse of dimensionality; i.e., their computational cost grows very fast as the number of random parameters increases. In order to solve this challenging problem, this paper presents a high-dimensional uncertainty quantification algorithm from a big-data perspective. Photo: Wikipedia Commons

Robust and Scalable Column/Row Sampling from Corrupted Big Data

Robust and Scalable Column/Row Sampling from Corrupted Big Data | Data Science | Scoop.it
Conventional sampling techniques fall short of drawing descriptive sketches of the data when the data is grossly corrupted as such corruptions break the low rank structure required for them to perform satisfactorily. In this paper, we present new sampling algorithms which can locate the informative columns in presence of severe data corruptions. I

Turning Big Data Disillusionment into an Opportunity with Data-as-a-Service Products | Data Science | Scoop.it
Big Data’s descent from the peak of inflated expectations into the trough of disillusionment made a splash when Gartner came out with its 2016 Hype Cycle for Business Intelligence and Analytics. This stage is decisive: Big Data either delivers, and so rises a bit further up the slope of enlightenment to the plateau of productivity, or it doesn’t, and so it slides further down the trough.
