Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: 3 Awesome Apps for Teachers to Create their Own Apps

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: 3 Awesome Apps for Teachers to Create their Own Apps | Education Tech & Tools | Scoop.it

"I have been doing a lot of apps review here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning but I have never posted about the tools you as teachers and educators can use to create your own apps. Just lower your eyebrows down, you can do it without any coding knowledge. Of course Android and Apple do provide tech savyy guys with the tools necessary to create their own apps but for us who know nothing about SDK and app development skills, platforms like the ones below will serve the purpose. You can create your app in less than a minute and the process is completely free." - from the Source:

ghbrett's insight:

This article introduces teachers to three applications that will permit them and their students to innovate and tinker with programming to create their own applications. There are well known people who say that programming should be a part of every educational curriculum. Well, here's a second step.  I think Logo and Mindstorms rank among the first that have been used in schools for a long time.

Meet.fm is an outstanding new web conferencing app that provides permanent cloud-based meeting rooms and which supports video, audio-conferencing and VoIP, scree-sharing, co-browsing, file sharing, and more.

From the same guys that originally brought you YouDazzle.com, here is a new web conferencing app that really shines in terms of design, ease of use and functionalities offered.

Meet.fm can be used both as a collaborative platform, where every participant can engage, talk and contribute to the session, as well as a webinar-like tool, where there is essentially one presenter guiding the overall attendee experience.

The Meet.fm interface can be personalized with your custom colors and logo and you have the opportunity to tap into most of the major cloud services, directly from Meet.fm. Right now Box.net, Dropbox, Google Drive, and Evernote are all supported. You can upload any file you have sitting on those services and share it or present it immediately to your Meet.fm attendees.

Meet.fm offers a free plan that allows for about eight hours/monthly of one permanent fully-featured 1GB collaboration room for a max of 3 people. Piad plans allow for unlimited time, rooms and for 500+ participants and 100GB of storage (at $199/mo top plan).

How to manage a research library with Zotero

How to manage a research library with Zotero | Education Tech & Tools | Scoop.it

"Once I have found a research output that interests me, I import it, and its bibliographic information, into my reference manager of choice, Zotero. I have tried nearly every reference manager over the last few years including Endnote, Mendeley, Sente and Papers 2, but for me none of them come close to Zotero. Zotero is a freely available tool that comes as either a plugin for Firefox, or in a standalone version." - Source
