This is an interesting article on the alarming number of mutant cane toads being found in Gladstone, which is just south of Rockhampton. The article claims that 6 to 8 % of the toads in the city are experiencing mutations such as a fifth leg and missing eyes.

Every few million years or so, a gargantuan volcano can occur that can last thousands of years.

I find this interesting as land volcanoes are constantly on the news, yet underwater volcanoes barely get a mention. This article explains a new type of underwater volcano eruption class that is signified by the release of mass foam, which then floats to the surface of the ocean. The new class has been named after the Maori god of the sea, Tangaroa.
