Japanese police have arrested 42-year old artist Megumi Igarashi, who used a 3D scan of her vagina to make a kayak and distributed the data to fans who had funded the project online.

Japanese police have arrested a Tokyo artist on obscenity charges for distributing data that allowed recipients to make 3D prints of her vagina, sparking protests over what supporters said was an attack on free expression.  Megumi Igarashi, 42, who calls herself Rokude Nashiko, had been trying to raise funds online to pay for the construction of a kayak. In exchange for donations, she supplied data to supporters that would let them create 3D prints of her genitals.

Well brace yourself, because a whole new social networking site that will take digital communication to a whole new level is due to launch in late July or early August.  

 

Emojli goes one step further than the surprisingly successful Yo app that only sends one word. It will offer users a vocabulary of exactly zero words. Zero. You won't even be able to use your real name as your user name.

 

Instead, Emojli users will communicate entirely in emoji, small images no larger than the size of capital letters that denote commonly used objects, emotions and ideas.

IT’S here. The megablizzard. Snowpocalypse now. This baby has been on the weather charts all week and it’s howling its way through the Australian Alps as you read this.

 

But as mentioned, the megablizzard has already started, in a welcome throwback to the days when heavy snowfalls were more regular in Australia. We’ll keep updating our images as the storm continues. Hopefully by tomorrow morning, we’ll have some pics of what snow industry people like to call “snow porn”. Ugly phrase, beautiful thing.
