An openly gay American ambassador has taken on a leading role in diplomatic negotiations concerning the Russian military occupation of Ukraine. Daniel Baer, who serves in Vienna as the U.S. delegate to the Organization for Security & Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), is at the forefront of one of the biggest foreign relations crises the Obama administration has had to face so far.
This so-called culture war over lgbt equality is so immersed in the religious angle and the "personal story" angle that there is scarcely attention paid to how anti-gay groups make attempts at either distorting scientific research or relying on junk science in order to denigrate the lgbt community.
Media Matters for America is releasing a sort of Wikipedia for conservative misinformation.
The site, Mythopedia, which was shared with TPM ahead of its release, is meant to be an online compendium of truths and lies pedaled by conservatives. The website's unveiling comes a day before the Conservative Political Action Conference.
"The week of CPAC seemed like the most appropriate time to launch a fact-checking tool, like Mythopedia, as I’m sure we’re going to be confronted with both old and new right-wing lies during the conference," Media Matters president Bradley Beychok said in a statement.
To say that things don't look good for discredited University of Texas professor Mark Regnerus would be an understatement. Apparently the paradox of your own university denouncing your work while at the same time you are testifying in a trial as an "expert witness" seems to be an angle which has the media humming.
Don Feder, leader of the anti-LGBT hate group the World Congress of Families' yesterday in an op-ed for the AmericanThinker.com stated that LGBT soldiers, “armed with vibrators” are a greater threat to the U.S. than aggressive action by Russia and its president Vladimir Putin. The piece, titled “Putin Doesn’t Threaten Our National Security, Obama Does,” posited that Russia’s dictatorial president is not as bad for the United States and the world as a president who is “not an American” in the White House.
This year's Traffic Scorecard identifies Belgium as the worst country for traffic jams in Europe. The Belgian and Flemish capital Brussels also features as the most congested city. The findings show that the average Belgian motorist spent 58 hours in a traffic jam last year. Brussels put down the worst performance with motorists in jams for 83 hours last year.
As Mark Regnerus was preparing to testify against marriage equality in Michigan, the actual academics who employ him at the University of Texas issued a statement, all but denouncing their rogue colleague, who has obviously found it to be more profitable to manufacture bogus studies in service of the Religious Right than it is to conduct real research.
