The biggest security threat remains malware. And many are still not doing anything to protect themselves against it. But mitigation (passwords, antivirus, segmenting your network) things like that would solve a lot of problems

New ransomware which encrypts your systems from the ground up and renders operating systems useless has been discovered in the wild.
If users refuses or is unable to pay and no unlocking software is available, they may lose access to their files for good.
