Eliminating the App Gap: Marc Prensky (PDF)

Should we be concerned about the fact that today there are a great many students who already have phones, or iTouches or iPads with the ability to download whatever apps they need or want (and the accounts and means to do so), and, of course, many more that do not? I think we should absolutely be concerned, because apps include some of the most useful learning tools that have ever been available.

Sharing and Synching files on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it

When I try to export from some applications on the iPad I have been emailing them to my laptop but it gives me share as WebDav (WEB based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) as an option. I didn’t know what WebDav was and how to get it.

This morning I sorted it.

Firstly I downloaded the app Box.Net which automatically gives me 50GB of on line storage if you sign up before the end of October- plenty of storage to be going on with.

labs - Data Locker - AppSense | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it

The explosive growth of personal cloud services like Dropbox sends a clear message that computer, tablet, and smartphone users greatly value synchronized data access across all of their devices. But many users struggle with the trade-offs between convenience and concern over the security of personal data stored in the cloud. DataLocker eliminates this concern by enabling users to easily encrypt sensitive information in their Dropbox account without sacrificing the convenience of anywhere access.

The DataLocker suite, offered for free by AppSense Labs, includes native clients for Windows, Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The Windows and Mac clients are capable of encrypting and storing secure files in any local file system or cloud storage location, including Dropbox. The DataLocker iOS application stores files in Dropbox. (Additional storage options are planned in future versions of the iOS application.)

No matter which of your devices you are using, with DataLocker your personal information will be both secure and easily accessible when you need it.

DataLocker is useful, gorgeous, and completely free (with no ads), so why not give it a try ?

How to Remote Wipe an iPhone or iPad

How to Remote Wipe an iPhone or iPad | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it
How to Remote Wipe an iPhone or iPad...

If you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod, you can remotely wipe the device with the help of an excellent free service offered through iCloud called “Find My iPhone” (or Find My iPad, etc). This is perfect for situations where a lost device is long gone with no chance of recovery, because it erases anything that is personally identifying, be it emails, texts, contacts, apps, quite literally everything. If you don’t have this configured yet and you don’t know how to use it, set aside some time to learn, it only takes a few minutes.
