Unique method for accessing student work on iPads? | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it
A very simple solution to accessing files across iPads in a network.

There is an awful lot of hot air blown about accessing student work from “class sets” of iPads, via email, WebDAV, Dropbox etc etc.

Designing Web Apps for the iPad | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it
In this article, I will guide you through my creative process in which I developed a simple but useful iPad web app in just one weekend.

KF:  While learning coding language can seem a daunting task this article begins to suggest that it isn't necessarily a prerequisite for App development.  Solid web design skills can translate your work into the area of app development.

Evernote Acquires Penultimate

Evernote Acquires Penultimate | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it

"Cocoa Box’s Penultimate, the beautifully simple handwriting app for iPad, has been one of our favorites pretty much since it came out two years ago, so we’re very thrilled to announce that we’ve acquired the company and that Penultimate is now part of the Evernote family!"

KF:  Just a little insight into the market place around mobile apps.  This sort of merging aften leads to integrated functionality and development into hybrid areas.  The effects on eLearning and mobile productivity will surely emerge over time.

Grading with Voice on an iPad

Grading with Voice on an iPad | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it

One of the frustrating things I found in teaching online last semester was the lack of direct contact with students. The class felt impersonal, despite my efforts to give it life.

I found that especially frustrating when I graded assignments. The feedback seemed cold and distant, even as I as I tried to point out strong areas of writing and multimedia projects.

iPad Creative - iPad Creative - iPad Challenge: Shoot, edit and score a film using just your iPad

iPad Creative - iPad Creative - iPad Challenge: Shoot, edit and score a film using just your iPad | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it
Nothing will hone your iPad skills quite like rising to a creative challenge. I wanted to get a better understanding of GarageBand's new Smart Strings section, plus I still felt that there was more to explore with the new iPad's camera.
With the in mind, I decided to shoot, edit and score a short film about a pleasant subtropical garden that's not too far from me. Abbotsbury Gardens is lovely this time of year, I knew that there would be lots of colour on show and that all the extra pixels of the new iPad, both in the display and the camera, would help me get those macro flower shots just right.

A Friendly Guide to Deploying iPads at Your School

A Friendly Guide to Deploying iPads at Your School | Curtin iPad User Group | Scoop.it

Deploying iPads at any kind of scale is just short of maddening. While the process of tapping around to install one app on one iPad isn’t too bad, installing a dozen apps on hundreds iPads isn’t a particularly appealing way to spend a month. If you are going to deploy iPads at scale, you need a strategy. You need a battle plan. In addition, you will also need to stay hydrated. I don’t think I’ve discovered the silver bullet, but I’ll share some of my experiences with you in order to, hopefully, shorten the learning curve.

Editing video on the go with the iPad and iMovie is pretty simple. Below I’ve grabbed three different free tutorials from Youtube that show you how to use the app. While the tutorials can give you a good of how to use the app, they are free so there are some limitations. If you are looking for really good, thorough tutorials on everything from iMovie to WordPress, I’d recommend subscribing to Lynda.com. These are a good starting point for you though if you’ve never seen iMovie on the iPad.
