The Imminent Shift from Social to Digital Engagement - Brian Solis

The Imminent Shift from Social to Digital Engagement - Brian Solis | Current Marketing Topics | Scoop.it
Christina McCale's insight:

Brian Solis shares what service marketers have intuitively known: that the experience the customer gets with the customer service rep needs to be similar to their experience with the installer and similar to their experience when they open their bill. It's all about ONE brand - ONE experience, regardless of the platform or product that's being sold or experienced. But in today's organizations - far too many firms take a fragmented approach - with  different departments managing social media, product marketing, web, and quite litterally with no ONE organization owning content marketing at all in most cases.

How are your companies addressing these challenges?

Wait A Minute Makers: Before Agencies Can "Make Things” They Need To Create “Makeable Ideas”

Wait A Minute Makers: Before Agencies Can "Make Things” They Need To Create “Makeable Ideas” | Current Marketing Topics | Scoop.it
It’s an ever-increasing refrain--agencies need to make things.
Christina McCale's insight:

Absolutely - Agencies have to fundamentally change if they want to fundamentally influence their customers and the market. In a day and age where people can publish their own next best seller, send a video viral, become a world wide recognized citizen journalist, Ad Agencies can't just be about "ideas" -- we all have ideas. They have to be about "more" -- the question is - what is the "more"? And will "more" be different for each agency?

Christina McCale's insight:

Rohit raises an excellent point: while the corporate (THE movie voice) may be the one we all rememeber, what is more compelling? As Rohit shares - it's often the very personal interviews with the movie's actors, behind the scenes, etc.  How can you take a page from the movies and let your own "stars" talk? give your audience a "behind the scenes view" -- rather than your usual "corporate movie voice?"

The Rise of the New Contract Worker

The Rise of the New Contract Worker | Current Marketing Topics | Scoop.it
Why more people are choosing temporary employment over full-time work.
Christina McCale's insight:

No doubt about it - contract workers, contingency workers, temps... whatever you call the role, it's here to stay. Some hate this notion (ie: it's the evil corporation taking advantage of employees who have no other choice) and some love it, getting to pick and choose who they work for -- looking at building a body of work rather than a series of employers.

Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, more and more of business is going to begin looking more like the movie industry where groups or teams come together, work intensely on a project, and then move on.

How do you feel about this evolution in business?

To Create The Future Of Brand Identity, Ideo Looks Inward

To Create The Future Of Brand Identity, Ideo Looks Inward | Current Marketing Topics | Scoop.it
On March 25, the designers at each of Ideo’s 11 international offices put their other projects aside and spent the day thinking about Ideo.
Christina McCale's insight:

Outstanding Question!  In a day and age of customized messaging, Ideo is asking THE question - how to market or present themselves in the appropriate context. Using the Ideo analogy - when you are going to a funeral, you wear one outfit; when you're going to the clubs you wear something different. They call it intent... I like another term they used better - context appropriateness.... which means at your core value - you're still the same you. But when the time calls for it, you can be silly or serious, daring or demanding.  How will your brands change to reflect your own customers' needs at that moment?
