spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

People are going to far with their pets presents. These presents are awkward for a dog.Dogs don't want to be dressed in humiliating costumes and they don't want humiliating gifts. There is nothing wrong with a bag of treats and a bone or two. America has gone too far with their pets.

Collin Sailor's curator insight, December 12, 2013 4:11 PM

I think that dogs should be showered in gifts for Christmas because dogs are more loyal than most humans. I always get my dog, Daisy, lots of presents. I have a stocking for her at my mom and dad's house.

Al-Qaida stakes out 'jihadist emirate' in Iraq, Syria

Al-Qaida stakes out 'jihadist emirate' in Iraq, Syria | Current events | Scoop.it
Baghdad (UPI) Dec 10, 2013 - As al-Qaida in Iraq and Syria gain in strength and firepower, they're shifting from hit-and-run tactics to seizing and holding adjoining territory in western Iraq and northeastern Syria that analysts say could be...
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

Al-Qaida has gone too far with their terrorist group. Why do we have terrorists in this world, all they do is cause harm and destruction. Al-Qaida has taken control of over 40% of the western desert there. They have succeded by using geurilla warfare and that is why America and other countries aren't succeding in taking down Al-Qaida. We have gotten Bin Laden, but we still have a majority of Al-Qaida to defeat. This war has gone too far and needs to end.

Connecticut dad arrested for allegedly bullying his autistic son’s bullies

Connecticut dad arrested for allegedly bullying his autistic son’s bullies | Current events | Scoop.it

Police in Naugatuck, Connecticut arrested the 40-year-old father of a 12-year-old boy with autism when the father allegedly threatened a pair of boys who he believed had been tormenting his son.

Via Iam Legion
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

This is a hard topic because he was saving his son, but threatened his son's bullies. His son is Autstic and may need special help, but should not be bullied because he is different. The bullies I am sure will not bully his son anymore becuause they are scared. The father could have told the principal instead of threatening the bullies. He made a bad decision, but stopped the bullying.

5th graders defend little buddy from bullying [video] | Current events | Scoop.it
The parents of the 5th grade football team at a school in Bridgewater, Massachusetts have plenty to be thankful for this year, as their boys took a stand against the bullying of a younger student.

Via Thomas Faltin
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

I have seen this video on YouTube and it touched my heart. Thses boys love this kid who is different from them, and they all stood up for  him. He was getting picked on for wearing nice clothes like a suit and tie. His friends all wore a suit and tie to prove that they love him and won't stand for this to go on anymore. It is a heartwarming story that shows how loyal friends can be.

Shranna's curator insight, December 3, 2013 12:47 AM

This is a beautiful video and story. Although these kids know one of their friend is different they treat him no different. I am sincerely happy for him. I believe we should acknowledge and reward more kind acts in order to let kindness grow.

Asia Colvin's curator insight, December 4, 2013 5:22 PM

Young boys band together to take a stand against bullying and protect a victim. This goes to show that good goes so much farther than evil, and it's so much more fun to be good too!

Obama Family Booed At College Basketball Game

President Obama’s approval ratings are at an all-time low, and he’s taking notice. The President and his family were met with boos when they attended a college basketball game in Oregon last night.

Via Iam Legion
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

This is horrible that Obama is gettting bood in a great occasion such as a basketball game. His ratings are at an all time low becaus eof many reasons, like the tapping phones and the website issues. He is still our President and should be treated with respect. The people who bood him shuld feel bad for disrespecting our nation's leader. Overall, I think that this is a horrible event.

Little Upstanders Make a Big Difference

Little Upstanders Make a Big Difference | Current events | Scoop.it

Bullying prevention is complicated.  Sometimes it seems that it's bigger than all of us but it's not insurmountable.  We have an untapped army out there.  If we start training bystanders to start stepping up from an early age, we've got a shot at creating safe and caring school climates.

Read on...

Via Ulla M. Saikku
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

I do believe that every little thing can stop bullying. If one person stands up to a bully, he has not just helped the person who was being bullied, he is helping the bully and himself. The bully probably will not bully people again and that hepls the whole world. The less bullies, the less pain and suffering there is in kids in the world. The suacide rate for kids in America is horrible. We need to stop bullying from taking place.

Egypt: Morsi trial adjourned

Egypt: Morsi trial adjourned | Current events | Scoop.it
Deposed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was in court in Cairo facing charges of inciting the murder of protesters. It was the first time since his removal from office on July 3rd to be seen in public.

Via Thomas Faltin
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

I think that this whole thing has gotten out hand. There is clear evidence that he killed innocent protesters. He is not a good president , would an American president do that. No, because they don't let things get out of hand so fast. He is not a great president for Egypt and should be in jail. Overall, this is horrible, Morsi hasn't been seen in public since july third. This is probably because it isn't safe, and he is a key target for protesters. He shouldn't be president anymore and he should go to jail.

This just shows you how powerful and smart the Persians were during this time. It still amazes me the kinds of things we discover over time.

it is interesting to know that the persians gassed the Romans by adding sulfur crystals being these ancient times. They must have known very good techniques for making these gas weapons.

The USDA has quietly ended a ban on processed chicken imports from China.

spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

i think that that is quite gross because there will not be a lebel that says if it is from china or not. i would not eat chicken nuggets from resteraunts now knowing that it could be from china. Plus china has had many safety problems in their factories just this year thousands of pigs were in the water of china. over all, that is gross.

Yet, despite ending the decade-long US occupation of war-ravaged Iraq, Obama hasn't exactly been a man of peace.
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:

It is horrible that we are still in Afghanistan and we probably won't leave for a long time. This has gone on since the fall of the twin towers. It is time we pulled out, even just a little of our troops. We have 45,000 troops in Afghanistan and we could take some out and it wouldn't hurt us. Obama is in a need for violence and he should just pull out and not use our army like that. There is geurilla warfare and that is hurting us in Afghanistan. We need to pull out, for the good of America.

I think that this is a great tool, especially since the past events with a lot of bullying happening. I think that many kids will use this tool if they are being bullyied, but I think that some kids will be afraid to press the button. Children might be afraid if they press the button because they might fear the bully will confront him. Other than that, I think that this button is genious and I think that it will prevent a lot of cyber bullying. Overall, I think that it is a great button to have.

Basketball Player Scores Amazing Fluke Shot for Wrong Team [VIDEO] | Current events | Scoop.it
You've never seen a basketball shot quite like this before, and probably never will again.

Via David Simpson
spencer fouracre wootten's insight:
I was surprised when I saw this shot, because this is an incredible bad luck shot. This shot will go down in the record books as one of the greatest "accidents" in NCAA history. He swatted the ball and did a good job of keeping the ball in play. He just launched it up too far and it was bad luck. At least, it only counted as two points in this game. He was disappointed when he made the shot, but I would be happy that I made a underhand, no look college three pointer. This is bad luck for him, but astonishing for the whole world.
