Government shutdown: What's the cost? - CBS News | Current events | Scoop.it
Government shutdown: What's the cost? CBS News The Office of Management and Budget estimated that two government shutdowns in 1995 and 1996, totaling 27 days, cost the federal government $1.4 billion.
Bryan Tierney's insight:
The article discusses the impact of the government shutdown on the nations economy, morale, and business world. A shutdown that lasts a short period would not have a great impact. The average cost to run the nations government for a day would cost $2 billion, where a shutdown that lasted a month would cost the government for the same cost. However a long term shutdown would causes problems with company contractors who have business with government. It also would drop the national morale and trust in our government. I think that this article shows the impact of a shutdown very well, us on evidence from data relating to past shutdowns. Also it addresses ideas and questions that people may have of the government and how it May impact the business world, economy, and national morale.
