Apple iPad rumors ramp up ahead of press event

Apple iPad rumors ramp up ahead of press event | Current Events | Scoop.it
With less than a week until the tech giant announces its next-generation tablets, rumors surrounding the devices are at fever pitch
Brenda J. Alegria's insight:

This article came from CBS news which I believe is a credible source.  I found this article interesting because there is such a fascination with apple products when there are so many other products that serve just as good as apple. I do not understand how they can come out with a product feature that has already been seen in other brand devices, and apples still make such a big hit of something that is not new. Hp laptops have had finger scanners way before apple introduced it; the only difference is they are applying the finger scanner to a phone.

Black Friday Is Facing Extinction | TIME.com

Black Friday Is Facing Extinction | TIME.com | Current Events | Scoop.it
Is Black Friday dying? More evidence is showing up indicating that the day after Thanksgiving is not the best day for finding deals. Some retail experts are even forecasting that Black Friday will disappear as an American consumer tradition.
Brenda J. Alegria's insight:

I choose this article that I found on business time, because the holidays are just around the corner as well as black Friday.  This article talks about the possibility of black Friday being extinct in the near future.  This is hard to believe when not only are stores having black Friday’s sales, but are starting their sales earlier and earlier every year cutting into thanksgiving. This article states that black Friday is losing its importance and because deals are appearing long before and long after.

San Bernardino officer coerced sex from prostitutes, indictment says

San Bernardino officer coerced sex from prostitutes, indictment says | Current Events | Scoop.it
A former San Bernardino police officer was arrested Thursday on charges that he forced two prostitutes to have sex with him while he was on duty, according to court documents.
Brenda J. Alegria's insight:

This article was taken form the LA Times. It was interesting to me because  we see how some people like cops, celebrities, and government feel that they can get away crime or that rules don't apply to them. In this article we see a clear example of a police officer forcing two prostetuts to have sexual intercorse with him.

Understanding 'The Wal-Mart Effect'

Understanding 'The Wal-Mart Effect' | Current Events | Scoop.it
A book claims the retail giant has such power that it affects everyone's daily lives.
Brenda J. Alegria's insight:

I got this article from npr books and I found it a credible source because all the information stated was accurate to what the other of the book in which I met confirmed.  I choose this article because walmart is such a big competitor in the market. Also we have been discussing walmart’s strategies in my management class. Another reason I choose this article is because Charles fisherman came into our class and talked about his book called the walmart effect and I found some really interesting things about walmart that many people do not know.

Hello Kitty jet landing in L.A. soon

Hello Kitty jet landing in L.A. soon | Current Events | Scoop.it
Twenty five years ago, a giant black and white killer whale decorated the fuselage of a Southwest Airlines 737-300 as part of a promotional deal with Sea World.
Brenda J. Alegria's insight:

I found this article in LA times.  This article is amusing, but at the same time it gives a good look into what businesses do to promote and gain more customers.  For those that are not a fan of hello kitty it would be an overwhelming flight, but through a business perspective; I believe this is a great idea since so many are fans of hello kitty and will fly people from LAX to parts of Asia where this character originated.

Trayvon Martin medical examiner fired

Trayvon Martin medical examiner fired | Current Events | Scoop.it
Shiping Bao, the medical examiner who changed his mind on crucial aspects during his testimony at George Zimmerman's trial, has been fired.
Brenda J. Alegria's insight:

I found this article interesting because we were talking about African Americans in my multicultural class.  We were discussing if the story would have gone different if the person killed was white as opposed to African American.  This article was surprising in the fact that how is it that a medical doctor can withhold information that is crucial to the trial.

The article was taken from CNN news. I found this interesting because it makes me think if the medical examiner changed his mind; what he now is saying, would it have changed the outcome of the trial? Why would he change his mind? Was he being bias?
