How A Government Shutdown Would Affect Small Businesses

How A Government Shutdown Would Affect Small Businesses | Current Events | Scoop.it
As the U.S. government could be headed for its first shutdown since 1995, small-business owners are divided on the matter.

Adrian Wear's insight:

A government shutdown would be devastating for many  small business owners. Many of them rely on federal workers and contractors in order to make their revenues. Also, the economy as a whole would crash.  Many workers could not go to work, and therefore many services not provided, including passports. Depending  on its length, it could be not as bad to the recession all over again.

In my opinion, this is one of the most important aspects of the government shutdown. Small businesses account for a large part of local communities. We rely on them for daily needs, and many go to work there. Also, they help boost the economy. Hopefully this won't last long, otherwise their profits will go down considerably.

I agree with Courtney that the article does give evidence that this isn't actually a lot of money compared to our GDP. I find it unnecessary to lose more money than our national debt. We are pretty much making our debt even deeper down the hole. It doesn't even seem like we are losing more money than our national debt. The government should be able to fix this problem.
