Once again, I get to subject you all to my utter lack of artistic skills. I've been working on a simpler diagram of the internet marketing lifecycle - http://bit.ly/yP72qm - for about six months.

This one boils it all down to a less-pretty but hopefully more clear concepthttp://bit.ly/xoU2Fh

3 Tips To Bridge The New Idea Gap

3 Tips To Bridge The New Idea Gap | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

New ideas are the lifeblood of our new economy. Problem is most companies stomp on The New the minute any attempt is made to pop The New up out of a its hole. This is my ScentTrail Marketing post on a few tips to rescue new ideas from being stomped. The most important muscles for any Internet marketing company to keep in shape is their ability to create, implement and execute cool new ideas. In fact, sometimes it makes sense to implement a bad idea just because you can :). Marty

Making Your Story Visual: The Third Responsibility of a Good Storyteller

Making Your Story Visual: The Third Responsibility of a Good Storyteller | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it
If a picture's worth a thousand words, how many words does it take to paint a picture? Well, if you've been following the crumbs in my blog, you'll know that I'm leading you to the third responsibility of a good storyteller. And this one may be the most important of all. It's making your story visual. So grab your marshmallows and put 'em on the fire. It's this fireside scene you'll need to test your story.

Why the fireside scene, you may ask? Imagine this scenario. You're sitting around a warm fire with friends and companions. You see stars begin to pop out against the darkening sky. Someone tells a story of an event that happened during the day. But you can't see the storyteller's gestures, or the look on his or her face. All you have is the storyteller's vocal timbre, rhythm and volume and the small selection of words chosen to paint the scene. So you listen carefully and let your imagination respond to the words you hear.

12 Most Important Reasons to Love Klout

12 Most Important Reasons to Love Klout | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

By Mark Schaefer - http://bit.ly/xiU5Qu

@markwschaefer

Many people hate Klout. Scratch that. Many people LOATHE Klout.

And for good reason.

The company that purports to measure your level of influence draws howls of indignation at the very idea of being rated in a public way, let alone represent “The Standard for Influence.” Klout’s PR miscues and well-publicized examples of people gaming this social scoring system just add fuel to the fire.

But after studying this emerging social influence trend for more than a year to research my new book Return On Influence, I’m convinced they are on to something.

Here are 12 reasons to take a second look at Klout and “social scoring”http://bit.ly/A4ht0J

Drag and Drop Storify for iPad Is Here

Robin Good: The new Storify news curation tool is now available for the iPad, bringing the ease of drag and drop to the curation world.

"Founded in 2009, this seven person company has done a remarkable job surviving the market and being one of the major players in the world of content curation.

[Storify has been adopted by] 22 out of top 25 news sites in the United States...

Just like Twitter has their trending topics, Storify’s service allows people to keep track of the relevant social media trending topics. Users are able to tell their own story about these major events (like Whitney Houston or Greece’s economic downfall or even Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime performance), and embed them on their own website.

Be your own crowd-sourced storyteller, by dragging in tweets, status updates, photos, and videos from a variety of social networks in order to help you create a better story and telling experience."

(Source: http://bub.blicio.us/storify-launches-free-ipad-app-to-help-content-curation-on-the-go/)

Check out this video interview shot yesterday with the Storify team demonstrating the new app: http://youtu.be/u-Ua4LIbzMY

The Storify app is free to download right from the iTunes store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/storify/id488223180?ls=1&mt=8

9 Awesome Reasons To Use Infographics In Your Content Marketing

9 Awesome Reasons To Use Infographics In Your Content Marketing | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

By Jeff Bullas - http://bit.ly/AsKklN

@jeffbullas

We live in an age of Big Data..which means there is more data than ever before. In one day we create 1.5 billion pieces of content, 140 million tweets and 2 million videos.

Trying to make sense of the mountains and oceans of data that are now part of our knowledge world due to computers, mobiles and the web is a daily challenge.

We constantly are attempting to organise, collate and curate information that pours at at as from screens in a torrent.
Consuming that data is like drinking from a fire hose.

What are Infographics?

Infographics are a strong, hard working and effective communication tool

  • a mix of design, writing and analysis
  • a visually compelling communication medium
  • deep data presented in a visual shorthand

SEO Strategy Benefit from Infographics

1. Builds links – with 60% of people being visual learners, Infographics are a great way of capturing the attention of web users, and it’s also a great way of encouraging people to share and credit back to you

2. Can be Shared – Infographics are easily digested, simple to understand and interesting to look at

3. Branding Opportunity – people just love Infographics!

Managing Social Media Strategy In-house Versus Outsourcing

Managing Social Media Strategy In-house Versus Outsourcing | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

By Des Walsh - http://bit.ly/zMw2UB

@deswalsh

The comparative merits and limitations of in-house staff resourcing for social media, versus outsourcing.
Some argue for outsourcing the whole process to a company specializing in social media.

Others feel that it makes more sense to keep, various, some or all of the processes in-house.

My own view is that it doesn’t have to be an either/or decision.

But I’ve heard the full outsourcing pitch often enough from owners of outsourcing businesses to know that they can have a firmly held belief that the only sensible thing any business can do is to outsource the whole process to them, the self-proclaimed social media expert service providers.

And of course on the business owners’ side, there is no shortage of those who would rather write a check and have someone else handle the whole thing than get directly involved themselves.

It’s a matter of balancehttp://bit.ly/y7D06A
