To Auto Post Or Not To Auto Post, That Is The Question

Are you setting your social media marketing on cruise control by auto-posting with third-party APIs?

***** I love BufferApp but feel guilty eveytime I use it. My convenience destroys the conversational nature of social media. Converting social media to unidirectional media defeats the purpose and returns us to the bad old days of WE TALK and YOU LISTEN that are long gone. This interesting study from Social Media Today suggests using auto post is both good and bad, so glad they cleared that up (lol).

8 Tips To Be ‘Social’ Without The ‘Media’

Note to marketers: Shut up, and listen. Actually listen to what your customers are saying.

***** Agree with much of this post about what it is easy to do WRONG when companies engage in social such as uni-direction, more talking than listening and forgetting the C word (connection).

Mobile Apps Win For Big Brands vs. Mobile Web

Hidden deep inside the 45 minute excellent comScore "State of the State" for ecommerce and mobile presentation is this great chart showing engagement for mobile apps vs. mobile web. They make the point that mobile apps have great branding and this engagement chart certainly shows how powerful having poeple download YOUR app can be.

Is the equation different for smaller brands? Will the market turn? Who knows, but having your app on my phone or ipad is, from a branding perspective, more powerful than not and probably always will be.

Behavioral And Social Recommendation Engines Are About To Rule The World

The biggest blue ocean in Internet marketing is in "read the cookie, fire the site" tools combined with predictive modeling, automated marketing (drip email campaigns, social awareness and social CRM). When everyone has a website the next thing you have to do is make it CONVERT.

We will look back on the 3% conversion days as the middle ages at some point very soon because WE HAVE SO MUCH INFORMATION about our visitors it is all but inexcusable to not wrap a website around me like a comfortable blanket or one of those huggies things (lol). And I mean wrap in Real Time or Near Real Time not in some wimpy abandoned cart process (or abandoned site process).

Know WHO I am, fire relevant information to ME in dynamic zones, help me share your cool stuff with my tribe and encourage my advocacy and then your conversion rates will be in the double digits and we will wonder what the heck we were thinking back in the day. If Google can change their result sets to ME then why isn't every landing page also so armed, so personal, so relevant?

Why Agile Marketing Is Essential and What Is Agile Marketing?

Great Marketing Profs article!!!

Hearing our IT pros talk Agile development I felt left out. The idea our IT department would be creating user stories, sprints focusing on visual deliverables and SCRUMing together stuff fast seemed GREAT but more in my camp (Marketing) than theirs (IT).

Anyone else feel like these two class distinctions are breaking apart fast (IT and Marketing)? Techies are becoming more marketing savvy and vice versa. This article disucsses a San Francisco group about to create "Agile Marketing" in early June. Very cool and about time (lol).

SEO Basics - Google's Float, Keyword Research And Long Tails

Internet marketing in a time of deafening noise requires novel approaches, ideas and attacks. The SEO Airport Attack Gambit combines and helps explain:

* Google's Float

* Keyword Research

* Long Tail Attacks

Search Engine Optimization in a post Panda / Penguin world requires a rethink, a rethink that makes the SEO Airport Attack Gambit even more powerful.

This name sounds black hat, but it is NOT. I don't believe in black hat SEO tactics because the math always wins, they risk things more valuable than momentary SEO victories such as brand authority and value and black hat SEO tactics require at least as much work as white hat strategies.

***** The ultimate social move, Google has proved, is to float the return set. Twitter's first step in that direction is to watch your activity and make relevant suggestions on follow.
