I think "superhero" is a bit farfetched. Especially as so much curating seems to be another form of marketing. However, Steven Rosenbaum takes curation seriously, serious enough to talk about curation ethics, and when sharing is really stealing.

Is curation the new social? Flipboard and others (like Scoop.it) seem to be betting on it. Instead of real-world relationships as social links (as with Facebook) or professional networks (see LinkedIn), it's shared interest that links people via curated topics. Less "friend of a friend" and more "friend of an idea". That's a social I can warm up to.

24 minutes. He's sort of a slow speaker, so brew a cup of tea. But I like his argument that we feel overwhelmed not so much because of information overload (which is real), but because our filtering systems don't keep up with the volume. While he doesn't mention "curation" at all, he does say that you must constantly tend and improve your filters for successful information management. Sounds like curation to me. He also has something interesting to say about quality. Watch it and find out what.

It does beg the question, though, how many things do you want to link to in a topic? Do you periodically go through it and remove things that no longer seem as rich as they first did?
