Seth Godin states it like it is. It's not about the numbers even though it looks good. If you are just curating resources to get your numbers up and offer nothing of value, you are just polluting a powerful space, turning signals into noise and bringing down the level of discourse for everyone. And second, you're wasting your time when you could be building a tribe instead, could be earning permission, could be creating a channel where your voice is actually welcomed.
I really appreciate that he wrote this. I see the hook in curation as just adding more to your Scoopit so you can get your numbers up instead of finding resources of value for you and your followers. I write and coach. I am learning from my PLN and looking to create a channel on Personalized Learning -- mainly to learn more about it. Without these tools like Scoopit, I wouldn't know about some research, some new apps, and more. I am a lifelong learner and appreciate each resource. You really have to be a critical reader or you are just part of the noise also.
