As leaders, it is important that we exemplify the attribute of commitment for us to truly be effective. Before we can commit to a cause or to anyone else, we have to be committed to ourselves. This is not in a selfish sense or to suggest that it’s all about you. We have to commit to ourselves in a way that promotes self-improvement and constant growth. One of the responsibilities of a leader is to be able to bring out the best in others, and you are most effective in doing that when you are at your best.
