DO MILLENNIALS REMEMBER THE TITANS?

DO MILLENNIALS REMEMBER THE TITANS? | Culturational Chemistry™ | Scoop.it

“Attitude reflects leadership, captain!” That’s one of my favorite lines from one of my favorite movies. For those not familiar, this line is from the movieRemember The Titans. The line is from a scene where the team football captain, Gary, is telling Julius, a top defensive player, that he doesn't like his attitude on the field. Julius’s reply is a simple but very insightful response; “attitude reflects leadership, captain!

LOVE THY SELFIE | Culturational Chemistry™ | Scoop.it
My wife has this t-shirt that she really likes with the words “Love Thy Selfie” on the front. It’s a pretty cool tee. I love the generational relevance of the message. It captures the culturally relevant style, language, and mindset of millennials. For millennials, this statement is about more than the pictures being posted on social media pages…

Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance: A Millennial's Perspective

Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance: A Millennial's Perspective | Culturational Chemistry™ | Scoop.it
I can’t tell you the number of times that I have heard the saying: “Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.” Whenever I try to take shortcuts, it rings in my ear. It is true. When it comes to performance, preparation is key. For example, if you knew that you had to take a test, you wouldn't just show up on the day of the exam without studying. The same goes for everything else in life.

TOO DEEP TO RETREAT | Culturational Chemistry™ | Scoop.it
I run 4 miles every other morning. I don’t necessarily run because it’s fun, although I enjoy it in a love-hate kind of way. I run because I want the results that it produces. When I first started this running ritual, it was a choice that I had to make every other morning at 6am. It’s no longer a choice; it’s a commitment.

DO MILLENNIALS EXEMPLIFY CIVIL RESISTANCE?

DO MILLENNIALS EXEMPLIFY CIVIL RESISTANCE? | Culturational Chemistry™ | Scoop.it
The title of this post could have easily been “Do millennials exemplify Civil Disobedience?” And it almost was. Then I thought that millennials catch enough heat for being labeled as selfish, rebellious and disobedient that there was no need to add any fuel to that fire.

Building a Generation of Leaders

Building a Generation of Leaders | Culturational Chemistry™ | Scoop.it
When it comes to being a leader, many of us get caught up with how many followers we have. Especially with social media, we often find ourselves checking for how many new followers we have, or how many likes we can generate in an hour. I’ve found myself falling prey to this as well. Being a millennial, I didn't even realize it myself until a recent conversation with some Generation X’ers.

EXPERIENCING NEW IDENTITY FORMATIONS

EXPERIENCING NEW IDENTITY FORMATIONS | Culturational Chemistry™ | Scoop.it
“You can tell them by their fruits”. I always found that to be an interesting quote. When I was younger, I thought that meant that you were literally a certain type of person based on the type of fruit that you ate. I thought that depending on the type of fruit that you chose to buy and eat, that would define what type of person you are. You can imagine the pain and agony I went through as a young boy deciding what fruits I would eat to let the world know what type of person I am.
