From Toy to Tool: How to Develop Smart Tablet Habits in Class

From Toy to Tool: How to Develop Smart Tablet Habits in Class | Education and Cultural Change | Scoop.it

I wonder why Gabriel. So many kids have some sort of smart device at home it would seem that it work well depending on the course. Spelling is great. I'm speaking of elementary kids.
Gabriel Daum's comment, August 3, 2013 4:01 AM
I don´t know what the reason was, but they often had some technical problem and instead of helping during the lesson they just caused problems. But the best thing about the tablets at school is the leighter backpack.

How Evernote Is Revolutionzing My Classroom - Edudemic

How Evernote Is Revolutionzing My Classroom - Edudemic | Education and Cultural Change | Scoop.it
The great Evernote experiment is underway in the UK. Adam Webster details how he went all-digital with the help of iPads and Evernote.
Pierre Levy's insight:

Evernote would do two of the key things I really needed – it allows my students to curate their work (which can be produced in a multitude of mediums) in an orderly, logical fashion, and, perhaps most exciting, it allowed me to observe their work as they created it, through shared notebooks. In addition to this, we have utilized other parts of the Evernote family by using Skitch and Penultimate which automatically sync drawings and handwritten notes amongst other things) straight to your main Evernote folders.

A UK teacher's experiment with a class of 22 schoolchildren using iPads and Evernote: "They have annotated poems online, created a glossary of poetic terms, a video poem of one of Hughes’ poems, an eBook of their favorite poems which they have designed and illustrated, as well as curating notes on how to begin the process of analysing poetry and examples of them having a go at the very challenging task."

Educational Leadership:Teaching with Mobile Tech: How to Transform Teaching with Tablets

Educational Leadership:Teaching with Mobile Tech: How to Transform Teaching with Tablets | Education and Cultural Change | Scoop.it

"If students were doing awesome things with an iPad, what would that look like? Here's another way of putting it: How does an iPad align with a vision of meaningful and purposeful learning?

Bereft of examples and inspiration, many educators struggle to conceive of iPad integration beyond mere substitution for whatever came before. Educators need guidance on how to leverage iPads as hubs of innovation that nurture the learning skills, competencies, and habits of mind that help students develop skills for today's world.

With that in mind, here's a look at two teachers and their iPad-infused classrooms."

Very interesting, thanks!

Mershon Viscusie's curator insight, May 19, 2015 1:41 PM

Questions to ask:

How will learning be different?

How will students improve as learners? As scholars? As citizens?

What will they be able to do 3 or 4 years after the ipad adoption that they can’t do now?

If ipads are the answer, what was the question?

What does awesome look like?

How does an ipad align with a vision of  meaningful and purposeful learning?
