Universidades globais, combatendo o risco do isolacionismo | CUED | Scoop.it

A universidade deve voltar-se para a promoção de ideias que iluminem a experiência humana e tragam um desenvolvimento mais inclusivo para os países. Para tanto, atrair talentos e ampliar o acesso conta muito.
Garantir, de um lado, que a universidade não ignore as necessidades de seu país e não se limite aos conhecimentos ou reflexões aí presentes. Por outro, ampliar o acesso a seus cursos, assegurando diversidade entre seus alunos.
Nenhum conhecimento é totalmente autóctone; a humanidade sempre teve interações que proporcionaram o avanço das ciências, mesmo que, em muitos casos, isso tenha se associado a formas de dominação. O isolacionismo ou a busca de uma pesquisa "genuinamente nacional" certamente não são respostas a esse risco.
A construção de uma universidade global que contribua com um projeto de nação passa basicamente por três fatores. O primeiro diz respeito à relevância dos currículos para garantir, para além do avanço de diferentes campos de pesquisa, empregabilidade e empreendedorismo para seus egressos.
Outro fator é um sólido controle da qualidade de sua produção e contribuição para a sociedade. O cuidado, nesse caso, é evitar que, em governos não democráticos, o controle de qualidade inclua censura ao labor científico. Há que se garantir liberdade de ensino e pesquisa, sob pena de se perder justamente o que a universidade traz de mais rico.
No entanto, em sociedades democráticas, não cabe à universidade perceber-se só como centro de resistência. As ditaduras levam instituições de ensino superior a se colocar em trincheiras, mas manter-se eternamente entrincheirado mata a possibilidade de dotá-las de um papel mais propositivo.
Finalmente, a universidade deve ser permeável tanto aos interesses da sociedade em que atua quanto aos desafios que o tempo traz para o planeta. Para tanto, ela deve contar com um sistema de governança que não seja autorreferenciado. A universidade não será global vivendo numa torre de marfim!

At first this seems like a good idea because its creating less C02 emissions however what they haven't fully understood is that to clean the solar panels it uses the chemicals similar to those used in the general semiconductor industry, include hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrogen fluoride, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, and aceton. which are far worse for the environment. with this in mind there could be more job opportunities to create alternatives to these chemicals or to create a better way. recently Ive noticed that these talks never really mention places like Alaska where it gets dark for a days at a time and it says that its snow proof but to what point? how are we going to create the energy needed to help those people in harsher climates? its a great article but its missing some things to back it up.
