UA MAKES YOU BETTER. - YouTube

Our job is to make all athletes better and empower the NEXT generation of athletes to believe they can do anything! Shop ColdGear Infrared: http://bit.ly/1gG...
Marty Koenig's insight:

Watch this commercial. It's just one minute.

Is it me, or does this commercial bring forth brand confusion? The ad highlights Lindsay Vonn, Willie Robertson, Cam Newton, Jordan Spieth, Under Armour and Dick's Sporting Goods.

I presume Under Armour will get the desired effect in international exposure and subsequent growth. However, brand dilution comes to mind when so many brands are mashed up in 6 different messages with 6 different brands. Why is Duck Dynasty in there? It seems out of place. Is the audience supposed to believe that Willie wears Under Armour and will perform better hunting ducks? That's that got to do with Skiing and performance?

Seems like an unfocused shotgun ad that screams "Lets toss up a salad with a bunch of stars, a decent product, and not so great retailer, and we'll be everything to everyone all at once".

Anyone with any marketing experience knows that's not a successful strategy. We shall see.

New Insight - Weekends are better on twitter. | Innovative Marketing and Crowdfunding | Scoop.it
For many businesses using Twitter has become a staple in an effective marketing campaign. Engaging customers through tweeting daily tips, facts,...
Marty Koenig's insight:

For years I've been waiting till afternoons (1-3PM) on Tuesdays and Thursdays to tweet important messages. this infographic throws that out the window.

Yes, it's focused on brands, but what entrepreneur, solopreneur, coach, consultant, freelancer or small biz ISN'T a brand?

Guide:

  • use <100 characters
  • make sure your tweet has a link
  • use hashtags, but only 1-2 of them
  • Ask to Retweet (I do this here and there using "Please RT", but now I will use "Please Retweet" spelled out! The results are surprising!)

Take heed. Market Yourself Better.

Why Influencer Marketing Will Grow In 2014 -

Why Influencer Marketing Will Grow In 2014 - | Innovative Marketing and Crowdfunding | Scoop.it

In 2014 we can expect to see growth in influencer marketing including investment in identifying influencers and in the growth of outreach strategies to engage such influencers.According to InNetwork around $240m is spent in North America each year on influencer marketing. This is a figure we can expect to grow in 2014, partly because there is so little trust in advertising, but primarily because people trust people.

Surveys have consistently shown a low a level of trust in marketing such as advertisements, with some surveys finding up to 75% people do not believe advertisements. This is in marked contrast to recommendations from other people. The 2011 Neilson survey asked people what sources of information were most relevant to them when seeking information about products and services. The response was overwhelmingly recommendations from people. Over 90% of people felt that recommendations from friends were highly or somewhat relevant to them and 75% felt that consumer opinions posted online were were highly or somewhat relevant to them. This compared to ads on social networks being down at 36%....

The No-Nonsense Guide To Make Money From Content Curation

The No-Nonsense Guide To Make Money From Content Curation | Innovative Marketing and Crowdfunding | Scoop.it
Content curation is all about collecting best of the stuff from the web. A content curation blog is one easy way to make money and add passive income.
Marty Koenig's insight:

This article misses a few things, but it's a good start. The author talks a lot about the “HOW” and not as much as the “WHY” and the overarching strategies.

Content curation is a thing to do. Here’s why anyone will start and manage content curation:

  1. For pedagogical reasons, where the curator wants to teach and mentor others their topic.
  2. For simple sharing and making it easier for others to find articles and posts on a topic instead of surfing for hours. It’s a time saver to read other’s curated feeds rather than endless internet searches or rss feeds.
  3. As a personal collector, so you have all your “read later” posts or where you create your encyclopedia as a continuous, life-long learner. To use as your personal library, but with posts and videos, not necessarily books.
  4. Start a conversation on a topic about which you are passionate.
  5. A lighthouse that illuminates your social media networks and general online presence.
  6. A social place, kind of a hangout where you can read, learn from and share others’ curations – that’s called curating the curators. I have personally gained some wonderful relationships with other curators just by being active, as a giver and recommender.
  7. As one marketing tactic in the grand scheme of modern marketing strategies and public relations.

It's a myth to believe that making money can happen directly from content curation, or any singular marketing tactic for that matter. If that's the goal of a content curator, it's the wrong one. Modern marketing demands an ever-widening realm of placement and positioning.

Marketing by definition is not selling. It’s not like you post something on a curation platform and expect people to buy directly from you like they do on craigslist or Amazon.

Here are some simple steps to get the wannabe curation marketer started if you want to make money at it:

  • Find a good platform (I use Scoop.it as my lighthouse platform).
  • Curate what you love and feel you absolutely must share with others.
  • Add value, additional points of view, a summary, your experiences, and your insight as a curator.
  • Build a loyal following by leveraging modern marketing principles.
  • Occasionally toss in some content that’s relevant to what you sell. Don’t sell.

Curation can make people to know you, like you and trust you. Only after that will they feel compelled to buy from you.

I typically don't recommend such information because most "info sales" people have nothing to offer and I absolutely HATE furthering the process.    There is someone that I would like to see this, however and I'm marking this for his attention.

Sunil Malhotra's curator insight, December 21, 2013 4:44 AM

The power of open collaboration has never been greater than it is now. The world has stepped into an age that's hurtling towards  billions of connections - as Tom Koulopoulos highlighted in his recent book Cloudsurfing - between human beings and machines in ways hitherto unimagined.
