Collaborative Reviewing and Commenting of Work-in-Progress Video with WIP

Collaborative Reviewing and Commenting of Work-in-Progress Video with WIP | Webdoc & Formazione | Scoop.it

Robin Good's curator insight, August 19, 2013 3:27 AM

If you need to review and provide feedback to video shoots in a simple and effective manner, WIP is a new web-based app which allows you to upload video content, and then to comment it visually, straight onto the video frames themselves, and then to share it with your colleagues or teammates for further contributions.

After you have registered and uploaded your video clip, you can click at any point of the video while in playback, and place your comment or change request anywhere on the video frame.

When your client, teammates or sponsors are invited to watch the clip inside WIP, they see a timeline populated with red dots representing the points in the clip where there are specific comments. It is enough to click on any of those dots to jump straight to that video frame and see the associated comments.

WIP allows you to manage multiple projects, and to upload different versions of the same video in each one. Invite reviewers is as easy as clicking a button and writing their name and email.

My comment: Easy, intuitive, straightforward. If you want to collaborate and provide feedback about a video clip, WIP offers an excellent solution at a very affordable price.

Free for up to 10 mins of video uploaded.
$100 a year buy you instead unlimited video upload space.

Educators aren't the "sage on the stage" anymore because information is readily accessible. Now teaching is about helping students make sense of all the info.

Marie Arndt's comment, July 19, 2013 5:43 AM
The role of the teacher has changed in many ways, not just regarding teaching, but the importance they have in students' lives. Technology, as Susan rightly points out, quality of teaching cannot be disguised by technology. We must help students to be selective in the barrage of 'information' they are exposed to, which is not always that but biased tripe or propaganda.
Jeroen Bottema's curator insight, August 6, 2013 8:04 AM

Mooi plaatje, geeft de student inzicht in de verschillende rollen van de leraar. Meer dan alleen 'sage on the stage'. Verder onderschrijf ik de opmerking van Susan Bainbridge.

Robin Good's curator insight, August 24, 2013 7:08 AM

HangoutMagix is a free web app which allows you to create the graphics elements to make your live sessions inside Google Hangouts look more professional.

With HangoutMagix you can create an overlay bar with your name and title, add a call-to-action and display the name of your show with its logo.

The tool is very simple and intuitive to use. You select the graphic element you want to personalize, edit the text, change the colors, select a style among the pre-set ones and you are ready to save a transparent .PNG file that you can then import into Google Hangouts interface.

Free to use.

Between the Lines: Storytelling in the New Landscape - i-Docs

Between the Lines: Storytelling in the New Landscape - i-Docs | Webdoc & Formazione | Scoop.it

"This session (...) looked at the relationship between technology and storytelling, it’s function within the creation of non-linear narratives and the continued role of “old” storytelling telling methods." I-Docs

"Each technological change in filmmaking has influenced the way stories are crafted. Adapting to these new technologies has repeatedly been presented as a revolutionary new way of storytelling. The first films shot with handheld cameras allowed unprecedented access to events, and later, digital cameras made it cheaper to produce films. Now, with opportunities offered by new media, stories can be told in a non-linear fashion through different platforms, or made interactive. Do these new technologies truly revolutionize the way we document the world, or do they merely change the relationship between the maker and the viewer? Do the old methods of storytelling still apply to interactive or non-linear documentaries?

Andrew Aker's curator insight, September 5, 2013 5:53 AM

awesome teaching and learning tool!

Melanie Faizer's curator insight, March 10, 2014 9:57 PM

Zeega.com is a great example of storytelling through aggregating and curating, and in addition, embedded, automated attribution. It removes much of the burden of copyright. From a storytelling perspective, it has limitless possibilities, but one of the challenges is finding that story worth telling. Some Zeega examples are beautifully executed; too many are (from a journalistic perspective) one-dimensional in their execution and not thought-provoking. We are still new at curating content, and it shows. Curating is another form of narrating: the story still needs a point, a trajectory.
