My presentation at the recent 24th European Students' Union Convention.
This presentation aims to explore the challenges of higher education emanating from the prolonged austerity measures and the restrictive economic policy. Additionally, it aims to examine the link between the expansion of modern financial products and over the counter market transactions and the reduction in public spending, the increase in fees and private spending in higher education, and the slow growth in employment.

In the last two years, a number of various MOOC platforms have been introduced and received a significant amount of attention in higher education news outlets. The big “bomb” arrived in the end of 2011 when Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced that they would start broadcasting a portion of its courses for free, openly on the internet – the MITx initiative. By now, the MITx has led to the development of edX that includes courses from MIT, Harvard and UC Berkeley. Delete the scoop?
