Call for expressions of interest: Internationalization in Higher Education. New Routledge book series, Ed. Elspeth Jones

Internationalization in Higher Education is new Routledge book series, with Elspeth Jones as series editor.

Books in the series will address key internationalization themes, written or edited by leading thinkers and authors from around the world.

The series is intended to offer theoretical perspectives with practical applications, focusing on some of the critical issues in the field as it develops. It aims to reflect contemporary concerns, with volumes geared to the major questions of our time, as internationalization matures into its next phase. 

The first volumes due for publication in Autumn 2014 are:- 
• Jude Carroll, Tools for Teaching in an Educationally Mobile World 
• John Hudzik, Comprehensive Internationalization: Institutional Pathways to Success
• David Killick, Developing the Global Student 
• Betty Leask, Internationalisation of the Curriculum 
• Chris Ziguras & Grant McBurnie, Governing Cross-Border Higher Education 

Potential authors and proposed titles or themes are now being sought, for manuscript delivery from late 2014 onwards.

New Islamic collaboration on higher education and research - University World News | Cross Border Higher Education | Scoop.it

While the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation are adopting joint measures to promote higher education and research, OIC member Kazakhstan is implementing bilateral agreements and memoranda to establish a Central Asian higher education area.

These recent developments were outlined in the final communiqué of the Fourth Extraordinary Islamic Summit Conference "Promotion of Islamic Solidarity”, held in Makkah Al Mukarrammah in Saudi Arabia from 14-15 August, and at the Eurasian Higher Education Leaders Forum, held in Astana in Kazakhstan from 20-21 August.

Indian legislation allowing foreign universities to grant degrees independently and set up full campuses in the country has met with another setback after ministers said they could not get MPs to agree to the law.

The Foreign Universities Bill has been shelved in favour of pushing through other much-needed reforms to higher education. But the delay adds to a growing sense that India is not friendly to foreign investment.
