Four Types of Remarketing
Put simply, retargeting is highly targeted marketing. There are four major types:

1. Search: show ads to people who search a keyword or phrase relevant to your product/service
2. Site: show ads to users who visit your site
3. Email/CRM: target ads using email addresses and other behavioral information
4. Social: show customized ads to potential customers using social data from Facebook, Twitter, etc.

In February, the cloud computing company revealed Salesforce Marketing Cloud Social Ads Platform for Twitter, enabling brands and ad agencies to scale real-time social campaigns using the new Twitter ads API. While most marketers are collecting outside customer data for their campaigns, many are not seamlessly integrating their data, causing them to miss out on audience insights that would better inform their loyalty efforts, according to a new report from Loyalty360 and Acxiom. For example, while 68% of survey respondents (the majority of whom are involved in audience measurement) gather outside customer data, 53% do not append or integrate 3rd party data into customer relationship management efforts.

...With a new focus on local search, Facebook has upped the stakes significantly for multi-location brands. According to a comScore local search study, consumers already search locally on Facebook. The study found that Facebook was second to only Google Maps as the place people go to conduct local searches on mobile devices. In light of these trends, national brands should respond by building out local Facebook pages for each of their many locations if they want to compete with local and national competitors in each of their markets.

 

Only a local presence can deliver the engagement and local flavor required to penetrate Graph Search and Nearby. Developing a social media strategy that works across all of a brand’s locations, however, is difficult, and several roadblocks should be considered before jumping in....
