Dans les relations clientèle, l’amitié se nourrit aussi bien des petits riens que des beaux cadeaux. Dans une logique d’intérêts bien compris, le cadeau d’affaires entend rester un incontournable : fidéliser ses clients est bien moins onéreux que d’en conquérir de nouveaux. Mais il subit une exigence croissante, puisqu’on attend de lui un retour sur investissement tangible, et qu’il s’adapte sans délais à toutes les nouvelles tendances du moment : dématérialisation, emballages innovants ou encore développement durable. Une exigence difficilement conciliable avec les contraintes de coût et l’alourdissement de la fiscalité.

Crise oblige, les consommateurs deviennent de plus en plus difficiles à fidéliser. En mars dernier, Nielsen publiait dans sa lettre « 100 % Insight ! » n°18 un article particulièrement instructif sur le nécessaire travail marketing à réaliser sur chaque famille de produits en rayons. Cet article qui s'appuie sur l'analyse croisée de plusieurs séries d'enquêtes arrive à une conclusion : la fidélisation vaut mieux que des parts de marché. En clair, la performance d'une enseigne ne se juge pas seulement sur sa notoriété ni sur ses parts de marché mais bien sur sa capacité à fidéliser sa clientèle.
