Although I am Catholic, I do not agree totally with the views of this university. Just like there are many heterosexual couples who are loving parents, there are also many gay couples who are also loving parents. It is unfortunate that just like biracial couples have endured criticism throughout the years, so have gay couples. The article does not disclose the full details in what these professors are teaching these students, but I’m sure there is much discussion in the classroom. It does make me wonder that if there are students that are opposed to their views, are they subjected to being expelled from the university? I do believe deviant behavior can be related to both heterosexuals as well as homosexuals. For example, those spouses who are unfaithful to their spouses or those that subject themselves to prostitution.

teaching “ideological falsehoods in the classroom rather than solid, proven research and evidence.”

This line was in the article and it struck me funny. I am Catholic and I have never seen solid, proven research and evidence on the stories in the bible but no-one seems to call them out on their other teachings. I know that we are dealing with homosexuality in this article but that is my point. Religious practice is a choice. I don't think homosexuality is deviant but I also don't think that the world started with only 2 people and the rest of us are all inbreed from those two. If you don't like the thoughts in that religion then find another one or ignore it.
Kimberly's comment, September 27, 2012 3:48 AM
This article infuriates me. Since when is homosexuality a 'deviant' behavior. This university shouldn't be able to teach a course like this that says that in the description. It is not labeled as a 'deviant' behavior and probably never will be. To me that it is insulting and incredibly rude. Especially to bunch them up with prostitutes, drug use, and robbery. Nobody is perfect, and last I checked Catholics were far from. People fall in love, who cares what their sexuality is. I understand that it is a Catholic Church and its forbidden in their religion. But that isn't something that they need to teach as deviant behavior. They could have just as easily left it out. I think that it will bring up a lot of discussion in that class, and I hope nobody gets in trouble for standing up for what they believe in.
