A Psychologist Takes Us Inside The Psyche Of The 1% | Crimes Against Humanity | Scoop.it

The unsuccessful psychopath might go to jail for swindling dozens of people with home improvement scams while successful psychopaths might swindle millions with bank deals, get bailed out by friends in government, and never spend a day in jail.

----------------------------------

To begin to better understand the world we live in and how we need to shift perception toward BEINGHOOD as the best solution to healing our planet, this excellent research from a psychologist shows directly how disconnection from one another diminishes our humanity.  This is due in large part to the Dominance-Based (Blue) and Logic-Based (Orange) Worldviews that presently dominate the planet to yet gain an awareness of our inherent oneness.  From this place of separation consciousness, it is not a big leap to having little empathy - even psychopathic disdain - for others you have no relationship with.

When you are expanded in your BEINGHOOD, you can not help but feel how another must feel, irrespective of their station or life circumstance.  You would even appreciate the simple life on the land as being equally valuable to the most learned intellectual scholar or creator of great wealth.  You would know your Gift is to be in service at whatever place you are to be, and to honor the whole as one in every choice you make.

The psychopath can truly only be a product of the Fear-Based Worldviews, because only from this limitation of perception can you rationalize your actions that can be so harmful to others.  From fear, everyone is suspect, and life is a dog-eat-dog affair, so best you are the top dog.  Never mind the truth that everything reflected outside of you is how you believe the world to be.  The 1% it appears must believe the world to be a very hostile place demanding cunning over Heart.

The Men Who Want AIDS—and How It Improved Their Lives

The Men Who Want AIDS—and How It Improved Their Lives | Crimes Against Humanity | Scoop.it

For Fortner, the phenomenon of young men deliberately contracting HIV is dispiriting but not surprising. “When you’re on the streets every day — winter, summer, spring, and fall — and you find a way to have an apartment of your own, it looks better,” he says. His own experience is instructive: Once his AIDS was diagnosed, he was astonished at how much easier it was to live in New York City. “Right now the rent for my apartment is $1,150, but because I’m on the program I only pay $217, which leaves me with about $400 a month,” he says. “That’s still a struggle, but I feel gifted, because one way or another I pull through.”

This is not the first time a person visiting from another country has been affected by U.S. gun violence.

Teens with no guidance and no responsibilities I am always suspicious of. This is not the first time a group of teens had used their free time for evil.

1% of people are psychopaths. Was this a group of three psychopaths? Or another manifestation of the U.S. culture of violence?

Today Bradley Manning was convicted on 20 of 22 counts, including violating the Espionage Act, releasing classified information and disobeying orders. That's the bad news. The good news is he was found not guilty on the charge of "aiding the enemy." That's 'cause who he was aiding was us, the American people. And we're not the enemy. Right?

George Stinney

George Stinney | Crimes Against Humanity | Scoop.it

George Stinney, Jr (1929-1944), at age 14, was the youngest person in America to be executed since the 1800s.

===

The murder trial a month later lasted less than three hours. The courthouse was standing room only, no blacks allowed.

Charles Plowden, Stinney’s court-appointed lawyer was a white tax lawyer. Plowden:

did not ask for a change of venue;did not cross-examine witnesses;did not call any witnesses;did not appeal.

Plowden’s whole defence was that Stinney was too young to be tried as an adult. Wrong: 14 was old enough according to South Carolina law.

The jury of 12 white men took 10 minutes to find Stinney “guilty with no recommendation for mercy”.

Bogolan to Baghdad: Textiles Tell the Story of Genocide in Iraq

Bogolan to Baghdad: Textiles Tell the Story of Genocide in Iraq | Crimes Against Humanity | Scoop.it

In summer of 2006 I left my job working for Brown University's Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology to participate in a project in Iraq investigating mass graves for the Iraqi High Tribunal. My primary duty was analyzing "cultural objects" found in the graves of genocide victims. These objects included ballistic evidence, personal effects, and clothing. Clothing offered a particularly interesting window into the lives of the victims, revealing ethnic identity, gender, manner of death and more. Collectively and individually, clothing made a compelling line of evidence for telling the story of crimes against humanity.

“International or regional courts...should be created because human trafficking in an international phenomenon that cannot be properly prosecuted and punished at the national level,” said a statement listing 50 recommendations made at a two-day seminar held at the initiative of Pope Francis on how to combat human trafficking and slavery.

The Vatican statement gave no details of the proposal made by the more than 100 experts who attended the seminar.

“The idea is that it should be something along the lines of European courts that go beyond borders,” Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, the head of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, said afterwards in a telephone interview.

The group, which will give its recommendations to Pope Francis as well as to organizations fighting human trafficking, also said it should be defined as a crime against humanity in  national and international legislation.

Sanchez Sorondo said the pope had asked his department and the Vatican's Academy of Social Sciences to hold the seminar because he was so concerned about human trafficking.

Sanchez Sorondo said in a preparatory document for the seminar, which he did not attend, that some experts believe human trafficking could overtake drugs and weapons trafficking to become the world's most lucrative criminal activity.

Francis has made defending the poor and vulnerable a cornerstone of his papacy. He has made numerous appeals for the protection of refugees.

I don't think the word 'evil' is helpful because that is a religious term.

Would we say that someone born as a psychopath is evil? I suppose if one is religious they would say that.

Psychopaths lack the neurophysiological “hardwiring” that enables them to care about people's feelings.

Psychopathy affects approximately 1 percent of the United States general population and 20 percent to 30 percent of the male and female U.S. prison population.

The danger in every community and nation is that it only takes one psychopath to get into a position of power (or get their hands on a gun) to end up doing massive harm.

Click through to read Abagond's post - then we can ask ourselves if U.S. culture is evil or psychotic.

Joint Chiefs’ Testimony on Sexual Assault Dismays Senators

Joint Chiefs’ Testimony on Sexual Assault Dismays Senators | Crimes Against Humanity | Scoop.it

by JENNIFER STEINHAUER, New York Times

Senator Roy Blunt sat silently for nearly an hour as his colleagues on the Armed Services Committee questioned one military leader after another on Tuesday about what they were doing to address the problem of sexual assault in the military, and then assessed their responses: “Stunningly bad.”

In particular, Mr. Blunt chided Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert, the chief of naval operations, for displaying scant knowledge of how military allies of the United States had dealt with sexual assault in their ranks, and for thanking Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Democrat of New Hampshire, for “the tip” that other countries had grappled with the issue.

“Has anybody who works for you been asking this?” Mr. Blunt, Republican of Missouri, asked with clear exasperation.

In a rare appearance together, a majority of the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — as well as the commandant of the Coast Guard and other military officials — testified before the committee about how the military should approach the problem as Congress prepares to vote on several measures that would significantly change military policy.

“Discipline is the heart of the military culture, and trust is its soul,” said Senator Carl Levin, Democrat of Michigan and the chairman of the committee. “The plague of sexual assault erodes both the heart and the soul.”

Senators from both parties pressed the leaders, at times using strong language, about why, decades after the full integration of women into the military, the problem seems to have worsened. Senator John McCain, an
Arizona Republican, recalled meeting with a woman whose daughter was considering entering the military if Mr. McCain, a former naval aviator, could offer his “unqualified support” of the choice. “I could not,” he said. [MORE]
