The Price We Pay

The Price We Pay | Creatives at Home on the Internet | Scoop.it
Judith van Praag's insight:

Ariane Mariane spells out what the costs are behind the price you pay. A look at European retail that brings back memories of working as an assistant buyer at Metz & Co in Amsterdam. My boss Cok de Rooy adjusted the job description so that I could do more creative work, and we shared invoicing etc.

Sometimes I just leave Judy's home page open for a while so I can enjoy the soft thrilling soundtrack of the gongs that welcome visitors into her virtual, creative space. IRL she's as welcoming, leading her students, friends and followers onto a path of creative exploration.

Judith van Praag's insight:

Creatives making a living on their arts and crafts share their passion with visitors.

Thanks to my work with Turkish theater companies I learned decades ago that "our" tulips really hail from turkey. And there's so much tulip to be found in the designs. I wish I could join you, and I wish even harder I CAN INTEREST FRIENDS TO GO ON THIS TRIP.

KickStarter A 2xLP Tribute to Kris Kristofferson

A 24 artist, 2xLP tribute to Outlaw Country's Renaissance Man, Kris Kristofferson.

JvP: So this is a great example of a creative KickStarter project. Consider this a triple-fold interest. I want to share what one can do with KickStarter, I love Kris Kristofferson, and I've got an Outlaw Country playing musician in very close proximity to me (no, I never grow tired of hearing him or those songs).

Check it out, do you have a projecet that needs to be kick started?

How to find your Facebook Fanpage RSS URL | Ping Kaching

How to find your Facebook Fanpage RSS URL | Ping Kaching | Creatives at Home on the Internet | Scoop.it
Ping Kaching shows you how to locate your RSS URL for your facebook fanpage. Then we show you how to distribute that feed!

JvP: You may have noticed RSS feeds of your Fan or Business Pages have disappeared after the latest FB design upgrade. Michael Roberts presents the basic feed URL to use.

NOTE: If you have a dedicated URL (the one you get after 30 Friends have *liked* your Page) Michael's explanation needs a slight adjustment.

You won't find the *Edit Page* link under your Fan Page Name on the Left. You'll find it on the Administrative Panel (that's above your banner) in the menu bar to the right under *Manage*.

Story Chairs - Tina Hoggatt word & image

Story Chairs - Tina Hoggatt word & image | Creatives at Home on the Internet | Scoop.it
Judith van Praag's insight:

A few months ago I responded to Artist/ Writer Tina Hoggatt's call for stories. One early Sunday morning I headed to the Jack Straw Studios in Seattle, and after listening to another reader, audio engineer Moe Provencher recorded my contribution to Tina's Story Chairs project. Such a wonderful experience, to work in a studio with state of the art equipment, and to see Moe edit the sound waves, immediately after I read my piece.

Note: If you want to take a listen, the Firefox browser appears to have a problem with the audio part. I had best luck with Safari, but for PC users Explorer may work just fine.

I just noticed Garlic Jim's Pizza donated money to a cause. So what happened? The West Seattle location of this sympatico pizza joint popped up in my mind. Scanning the list of causes this business has donated to, made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Next time we go to Alki Beach and don't feel like having Japanese food (our regular destination in West Seattle is Azuma Sushi) I'll go to Garlic Jim's. After all, we share values and interests.

That's how Cause Marketing works.
