Rob Schneider's insight:

Too much focus on trying to "outsmart" Google always nets poor results in the end. Focus more on the quality of the content and reaching your target audience and you'll have better results. Keywords should be there to tell search engines and readers what your content is about - that's all. A balance between blogs and articles on the main site seems to work better than dozens of fake articles that just make your site look amateurish anyway. Articles should offer information directly related to your product/service. Blogs give you an opportunity to express an opinion and/or write about industry related news.

Attribution in Content Curation: Is a Link Good Enough?

Attribution in Content Curation: Is a Link Good Enough? | Creative Ideas for Writers and Web Designers | Scoop.it

"The Blurry Line Between Plagiarism and Credit Attribution"

Via Robin Good
Rob Schneider's insight:

I like to name the author and title whenever possible, but sometimes, yes, I think just a link is good enough. It depends on how significant the content is to what you're writing.

Laura Brown's comment, April 11, 11:11 AM
@Ron - One of the things I like about content curation at Scoop.it is that the images are clickable to take you to the content. So are the headlines and the link is in small print too, listed as the source. So, there are three ways to get back to the source of the content. I try to do the same on my own sites when I curate content or reference someone else. I hadn't really thought about the link at the end of the post being more or less visible. But, I think you are right. It should stand out more than it often does.
Andreas Kuswara's comment, April 17, 9:05 PM
maybe rather than placing the link at the bottom, instead placing it on the top. like Scoop.it, placing it straight next to the title.
Andreas Kuswara's curator insight, April 17, 9:06 PM
interesting to ponder... just seems that copyright will remain problematic if not more in the future.

wanderingsalsero's curator insight, March 27, 4:51 AM

I haven't read this article but I knew right away, when I saw the title, that it was a valuable subject.  I think that if more business people knew who much curation helps their 'don't have time' problem, they'd really be enthusiastic about it.

There's a tendancy, I believe, among business owners to think that people who read their blog, or website (or any other content) expect it to be Pulitzer Prize quality.  I don't think that's true at all.  Nor do customers expect a LOT of content.  They just want to know what the business owner thinks and (in many cases) what they're 'up to'.

Curation makes it so easy for business owners to give them that info.

wanderingsalsero's curator insight, April 6, 7:43 PM

Add curation in with mobile video and travel blogging and I think you've got a winning combination.
