Parallel.js is a library for performing parallel computing in Javascript using web workers.

Parallel.js is a tiny library for multi-core processing in Javascript. It was created to take full advantage of the ever-maturing web-workers API. Javascript is fast, no doubt, but lacks the parallel computing capabilites of its peer languages due to its single-threaded computing model. In a world where the numbers of cores on a CPU are increasing faster than the speed of the cores themselves, isn't it a shame that we can't take advantage of this raw parallelism?

Parallel.js solves that problem by giving you high level access to multicore processing using web workers. It runs in your browser (as long as it supports web workers). Check it out.

Since the beginning of the 16th century the game "Nim" is known in Europe. Two players alternate in their efforts to remove matchsticks from a series of matches. The players decide how many matches they remove. According to the agreement about the goal of the game each player tries either to cause or to prevent the situation to hold the last matchstick.

 

When in the thirties Patrick Michael Grundy and Roland Parcifal Sprague used Nim as a model case to investigate conditions of impartial games then they discovered independently from each other the Sprague-Grundy-theorem now fundamental to the mathematical game theory. This model status exposed Nim beside chess: Both games offered points of departure for further far-reaching developments from which computer games emerged.

 

Since 1940 machine versions of Nim players were realised. They are variants of early electronic games processing a classic games´ set of rules (see below). The goal of the Nim machines was a reconstruction of the game logic. In the meantime, in 1948, inventors started with the "Cathode Ray Tube Amusement Device" (see below) a development line constructing machines for the game action of hitting.

Bon un partenariat c’est bien, c’est gentil, c’est sympa, ça ouvre des portes, augmente la visibilité, ça fait sérieux, ça ajoute un logo à la longue liste qui s’étale au bas de la plaquette de présentation, histoire de convaincre d’éventuels annonceurs, de justifier son rayonnement. Mais de là à prouver qu’on est capable de bosser ensemble, il y a de la marge. Rarement comblée.

 

Avec Oudeis, nous n’avons pas voulu jouer la simple carte de l’échange de visibilité. Notre objectif a vite été fixé ailleurs :

 

Interroger/explorer un nouveau mode de cyber communication via un chantier de recherche et de collaboration.

 

Parce qu’Oudéis depuis que nous vous en parlons et bien avant du reste puisque ce sont ses racines, s’interroge sur l’impact du numérique dans nos vies, notre perception, notre imaginaire, notre créativité. Et que de notre humble point de vue d’ARTchemists pure players et fiers de l’être, le numérique ouvre le champs des possibles tout comme il peut très vite le restreindre et l’anéantir. ...
