Justin H's insight:

I find the site's list of ways to handle scholarship money helpful. Even though it can be assumed that it's all going towards college, you read the first number on the list and realize that it can misused. The money you earn can easily go to waste. It also has some warnings if this misuse occurs. The site also states about how to save even more by creating a savings account which is really interesting as most people would use the money immediately to begin paying for college. Yet they say you can put it in a savings account, use what's neccessary and save a lot more money by going this route.

My thoughts on this is that these are the essential guidelines that can be overlooked by anyone who are trying to budget. These are just simple generalizations on what to do while budgeting. While we know simple budgeting plans such as spending less on luxury items, there are people who have failed to budget for themselves. HowStuffWorks "How Scholarship Money is Used"

HowStuffWorks "How Scholarship Money is Used" | Creating a Budgeting Plan After High School | Scoop.it
Scholarships and how to obtain them are discussed in this article from HowStuffWorks. Learn about scholarships.
Justin H's insight:

This article says what needs to be known. By using scholarship money, it doesn't cover for the out of pocket cost but rather it reduces the loan cost. It has it's disadvantages as families will still have to meet meat's end scraping up what they can for college. Yet it does help in the long run as it reduces the amount needed to pay off for college. I find it interesting because it's something that people would "safely" assume that they could use the money to lower the out of pocket money they'd be paying upfront. It's something everyone needs to be aware of.

The comments down below allows short responses to agree with what the article says. The title of it says it all as there has to be a fine line between needs and wants.

10 Step Guide for helping students and parents get into and pay for college.
Justin H's insight:

My thoughts on this is that it tells us exactly what needs to be put in towards an essay. Everyone wants to win but you have to be beyond the norm to be chosen. This gives a guideline as to how you should write an essay. The current link shows only three but the other 7 are there by clicking the forward arrow after step 3. One of the things that I have trouble personally is avoiding to write a sob story and showing positive energy. I don't want to evoke pity but it's the obstacles I face that I can't stop remembering them. They shape what I do but they don't have much of a solution that would help me write a scholarship essay. This also leads to the next point, show positive energy, where I have almost little optimism. Because of my troubles, I usually shoot down anything that is positive. There are things that are helpful when there are people who don't understand how they should write a good essay. These are general things that would help write a scholarship essay.
