It is by no means a universal experience, but most of us probably can conjure up some idea of belly dancing–what it looks like, sounds like, et cetera. Maybe you can remember going to one of those traditional Middle Eastern restaurants with low tables and lots of cushions for lounging and fantastic family-style meals. Maybe midway through the meal a belly dancer comes slinking through the beaded curtains, and you think, “Oh, a belly dancer! How exciting and authentic.”
