A fair amount of teacher professional development (also known variously as teacher training, inset, CPD or professional learning) is really bad. I don't just mean that it's poor value for money or insufficiently effective - it's much worse than that. A large swathe of training has no effect whatsoever on pupil outcomes.

The new Cambridge English Teaching-framework

The new Cambridge English Teaching Framework is now available to download.  It has been designed to encapsulate the key knowledge and skills needed for effective teaching at a variety of levels and in different contexts.

The framework describes teacher competencies across four levels, and four aspects of teacher knowledge and skill and is a profiling grid intended to show stages of a teacher’s development at any one point in time.
